Application Portfolio Engineer, 2004 -2009

Supported a varied portfolio of business IT applications which were created at Liberty or purchased from outside vendors. Tasks included resolving production problems, coding new business applications, managing release strategies and testing applications when operating systems and infrastructure were upgraded.

* Installed and supported the EMS Enterprise system from Dean Evans Associates, giving the company a tool to schedule meetings and classes. Used SQL and Windows server to interface with other systems.

* Supported the Secretariat system from Bridgeway. This system is used to manage data related to boards of directors and minutes and legal reports for Liberty and its related companies.

* Coordinated the migration of the corporate departments’ PC applications from Microsoft 2000 to the Vista environment. This involved the design of the test plans, actual testing and documentation. Over 40 applications were involved.

* Created files used to communicate between Liberty and Application Service Providers. These files enabled Liberty to use outside vendor applications such as Bricsnet, which is used to manage Liberty’s office rentals.

* Conducted security reviews including file permissions, ids and passwords and database security; implemented needed changes which brought Liberty into compliance with today’s higher standards.

Software Engineer, 1993 -2003

Wrote and maintained client server systems using fourth generation languages and relational databases.

Evaluated, installed and updated vendor software products.

* Designed and coded an insurance business market sales system using 4th Dimension and Sybase. This system was the prospecting system for Liberty Mutual’s commercial market sales force.

* Installed and tested Asset Center, a Vendor Application. This application gave the company the ability to monitor the software on every employee’s computer.

* Reviewed and changed Liberty Mutual’s property and business sales systems in order to be in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory and accounting standards.

Senior Programmer, 1986 -2002

Designed programs and wrote and test code on the mainframe. Worked on both batch and online systems. Tools used were Cobol, JCL, VSAM and CICS.

* Revised and maintained a mainframe system, Risktrac, using Cobol and CICS. This system enabled Liberty Mutual’s customers to do online tracking of their claims and payments.

* Converted an in-house payroll system to a vendor product from McCormack and Dodge . This new vendor product was used to do the payroll for Liberty Mutual.

* Coded and maintained a large number of reporting systems which dealt with corporate data. These reports were needed for both internal controls and regulatory filings.

Programmer, 1981 – 1985

Wrote and updated batch programs used for file maintenance and reporting. Worked on the mainframe using Cobol, JCL and IBM utilities. This work was done for the Commercial Claims Department.

* Developed an asbestos claims reporting system. This system allowed the Claims Department to do accurate and timely reporting of data needed for litigation and regulatory approval.

* Oversaw and maintained the monthly cycle claim file updating systems.

* Created specifications for and coded numerous batch Cobol programs. These programs gave the company accurate data for business analysis and improved interfaces between systems.
