Design Engineer September 2010 – December 2010
Plant Design - Vale Ltd, University of Toronto
• Investigated the potential of economically recovering nickel from a low concentration nickel waste stream using an oxidative leaching process
• Developed mass and heat balances, process control and operability strategies
• Carried out hazard analysis and hazard ranking studies for each of the processing steps of the plant
• Drew using AutoCAD software PI&D and PFD for the oxidative leaching plant
• Designed a profitable and compliant with environmental standards plant that produces 10000 tons per annum of contained nickel from pyrrhotite concentrate feed
Team Leader January 2010 – May 2010
Process Dynamics and Control, University of Toronto
• Modelled complex chemical processes and designed control strategies for those processes
• Simulated using MATLAB software, implemented and evaluated a feed forward control strategy for the stirred-tank water heater
