Project Description

SAP Sybase Mobility Competency Team is a team of about 20 members who are trained in Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP), a mobile enterprise application platform that enables enterprise developers to simply and quickly build applications that connect business data to mobile workers on any device, at any time. SUP supports various mobile devices like BlackBerry, Windows, iPhone and Android. This team is responsible for developing POCs and applications which mobilize SAP onto the Mobile Devices. We have implemented our Mobile Strategy in one of the Automotive Major in India.

The Applications include:

• HR (Employee Self Service):

Features: Leave Creation/Approval

Employee Info Updation/Search

Time Management

Benefits: Health and Insurance Plan Creation

Employee can raise a leave request on his/her mobile device which can be seen as a pending leave request in his/her manager’s pending list of approvals. After raising a leave request the employee and the manager are notified with an email containing the leave details of a particular employee. It can be approved/rejected by the manager.

This application allows the employees to create, display and change their own data, such as Pending Leaves, Leave History, Personal Info, Address Info and Bank Info in the SAP R/3 back-end system with their mobile device. Employee can search for other employee information in the Employee Search Directory. Time Management capabilities of the application optimizes processes for planning, managing, and evaluating the working times and activities of internal and external employees. The Employee can also create and select health, insurance plans and amounts pertaining to these plans.

• HR (Travel Plan):

Features: Travel Plan Creation/Approval

View/Add Flight Details, Hotel Details and Expenses

Integrates mobile employees with their main SAP systems - anytime, anywhere - to increase employee efficiency, improve data quality, and streamline business processes. Enables travelers on the road to access the itinerary data transferred from the travel planning solution. Enables employees/business travelers through a self-service scenario to create a travel plan containing trip destination, purpose, duration (begin date and end date) and book flights, hotels, add expenses/advances with their mobile device. This raised travel plan is sent to the manager for approval and further sent to travel desk to modify details.

Business Objective: Increasing Efficiency and Productivity, Reducing Operating Costs

• CRM (Service Order Processing):

Features: Administrator - Assign field tasks to service technicians

Service Technician - Complete tasks assigned by the Administrator

A manager can view a list of service orders and their details on his/her mobile device.

These services orders are assigned to field workers or service technicians by their managers/administrator. The technician (assigned worker) and the administrator (assignee) get a notification about the details of the service order on their mobile device. The technician can accept the service order according to field relevance and can start performing actions accordingly. The technician can thus update his/her status after completion of the work which is thus intimated to the manager.

• SRM (Shopping Cart Approval):

Features: Approve Shopping Cart

A manager can see a list of pending shopping carts and their items on his mobile device meant for approval or rejection.
