CFO / VP FINANCE

Financial Analysis / Capital & Operating Budgets / Cost Controls / Audits / Margin Improvements / Systems / SAP / Planning / CPI / Team Building / Accounting Management / Reporting / Consulting

Proven track record of establishing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures to enhance productivity and profitability in nonprofit and commercial sectors. Acknowledged as a champion for change, business process improvement and managed growth, I have been responsible for corporate budgets to $800M and staff to 140.

With broad experience in accounting, finance and corporate governance, I can readily contribute by:

- Reengineering business processes and delivering bottom-line results

- Guiding ownership in making informed financial decisions

- Analyzing situations rapidly and introducing change smoothly

- Meeting demanding objectives and delivering against tight deadlines

I am known for my ability to develop effective alternatives, easily win people’s confidence and readily handle rapid change. I earned an EMBA from Northwestern University and a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois, Chicago. I am certified as a CPA by Illinois.

SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Cut $4.2M in expenses at Douglas Shaw. Costs and infrastructure had been added to support potential new sales and clients that did not materialize. Led full line-item review of budget. Identified non-essential expenses, reducing through cutting, elimination and attrition. Realized 26% cost savings, bringing company into the black.

Took Kehe Foods from red to black. Company lacked accounting-related procedures, reducing margins. Recruited to implement a program of tight controls. Identified margin percentage required to return to profitability. Monitored sales and marketing adherence to process. Returned company to profitability in 12 months.

Generated $70K cash flow. Douglas Shaw lacked ability to track real-time job cost and client-cost information. Led cross-functional implementation team, installing COTS software. Developed and kicked-off “go live” plan. Identified $50K in unbilled revenue and $20K reduction in excess travel and client-project overtime.

Turned around product line profitability. Portion of Corn Products business was unprofitable. Determined it was being treated as a byproduct instead of a head product. Managed production optimization of higher margin items. Reallocated sales to higher-priced customers. Recorded $20M profit from $1M prior year loss.

Led successful ERP implementation. Corn Products faced integration of business data, following acquisition of Canadian affiliate. Assembled cross-functional team to address issues. Sourced, tested and selected SAP for company-wide execution. Delivered enterprise-wide real time system and eliminated data redundancies.

Increased Kehe cash flow 21%. Company faced negative numbers. Implemented credit review of each customer and new prospect. Eliminated free-wheeling sales approach. Offered cash discounts to vendors and executed payables on last eligible day. Improved cash balances, reducing need to borrow and saving on interest expenses.
