Profile Summary

With a highly technical academic background and an industry experience of over 8 years, I have been working in different industries like healthcare, ERP, financial and stocks. Currently focusing on healthcare industry and working as a software developer in the Integration department at The Shams Group (TSG), a Dallas based private software firm providing healthcare technology solutions. My responsibilities’ involves architecting, designing, developing, integrating/interfacing and supporting various healthcare information systems on Meditech (an enterprise healthcare information system) and Microsoft platforms. Summary Of Work: TSG is a software consulting firm that possesses 20 years of vast experience in the market place in providing healthcare solutions and specializes in the integration of medical software for hospitals and healthcare facilities. I joined TSG as a computer programmer in the Integration department for Meditech and Microsoft based systems and currently working as a technical lead. My major area of work in TSG is related to software architect, design and development for Meditech applications and also provide integration/interfacing to various hospitals and vendor systems. Following are the major projects and products that I have worked on:

Meditech (Magic/Client Server): Work involves analysis of Meditech modules, develop interfaces to extract Meditech data and implement ETL processes, develop NPR reports, troubleshoot and support Meditech applications, monitor jobs/processes and provide in-house Meditech consultancy and project management.

Meaningful Use: Key member in achieving ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification for the company for the E.H.R suite and Integration Engine. Developed bi-directional HL7 interfaces for certification criteria such as: submission to Immunization registries, Incorporate laboratory test results, Public health surveillance, Electronic copy of health information and Reportable lab results.

Meditech PHA: Integrated TSG’s CPOE pharmacy orders with Meditech’s inpatient pharmacy system. Interface uses standard HL7 protocol and scripting for inbound and outbound traffic. Technologies used are Meditech C/S platform, HL7 protocol and Microsoft SQL Server.

Patient Medication And Reconciliation System: Researched and developed inpatient medication reconciliation system that would allow physicians, nurses and pharmacist to reconcile patients’ medication during the admission, transfer and discharge events. This system is fully integrated with Meditech’s Nursing and Patient Care System. Technologies used are Meditech Magic and client server platform, HL7 protocol, Microsoft .Net platform and SQL Server.

Meditech ITS: Integrated TSG’s e-transcription system with Meditech Imaging and Therapeutic module. Patients departmental and radiology reports dictated in e-transcription system are uploaded into Meditech through this interface. Interface uses standard HL7 protocol and scripting for inbound and outbound traffic. Technologies used are Meditech Magic platform, HL7 protocol and Microsoft SQL Server.

Meditech LAB/RAD: Integrated Siemens (SOARIAN), Eclipsys (SCM), IBM and ECDS order entry systems with Meditech’s Laboratory and Radiology modules. Interface uses standard HL7 protocol for inbound and outbound traffic. Technologies used are Meditech Magic and C/S platform, HL7 protocol and Microsoft SQL Server.

Meditech Admission: Integrated other vendors’ registration system with Meditech.

Meditech Pharmacy: Integrated Medplus’s ChartMax system by providing data related to admission, radiology reports, OE departmental orders, pharmacy, physician, Billing and insurance.

OOCP (Outreach Order Communication Protocol):

OOCP is designed to integrate and connect a hospital’s Lab with multi-facility Physician’s Offices. Patient’s registration and lab requisitions are entered in OOCP system at physician’s office. This information is then placed into Meditech in real time fashion hence reduces hospital staff’s workload. I am working on OOCP integration with Meditech.

Computer Programmer

Shams Software Services is a sister company of The Shams Group (TSG) USA, a leading healthcare consulting and solutions provider firm. I joined this company as a programmer for Meditech and Microsoft technologies. Being a part of Integration group my responsibilities were designing, analyzing, troubleshooting, programming and integrating different hospitals’ interfaces, and new and old sub systems over Microsoft and Meditech platforms. Some of the major projects and tasks that I worked on were:

Computerized Patient Orders Entry (CPOE): CPOE is a patient order entry interface that provides integration between Hospital’s windows based application and the Meditech. This interface is made to process Patient’s Orders like LAB, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Radiology, etc. Information stored in SQL Sever is parsed, validated and transferred using different Data Transformation Services (DTS) and VB scripts and is finally uploaded into Meditech system.

InterfaceAdmin Portal: InterfaceAdmin is a Dot Net Nuke (DNN) based portal developed for Hospitals to provide first hand knowledge of interfaces running at different facilities. It takes into account Interfaces like Pre-ER Registration, Patient registration, Lab Orders, CPOE and Document Imaging. This portal is accessed by hospital staff to take necessary actions based on the information shown. It maintains proper access and security rights and ensures high level security and protection to hospitals’ information.

Software Developer

Intelligent ERP System: An intranet based ERP system developed for the Textile Industry. The technologies used were Microsoft Visual Studio .Net, C#, SQL Sever, Microsoft Visio 2002, and Erwin. The application comprised of Purchase, Sales, Inventory, HR, Pay Roll, Maintenance and General Ledger modules. In a team of 4 members I developed the General Ledger and Inventory modules. The General Ledger module contained all the financial information regarding the enterprise and was integrated with all other modules for capturing the cost and expenses at various levels of the enterprise. The inventory module comprised of all record tracking activities from an Item request until the Item is received.

Fortune Tech. Stocks Accounts System: A stock accounts system developed for handling all records pertaining to account holders and transactions pertaining to stock trading. Used Visual Basic .Net, Crystal Reports 9 and MS Access 97 over Windows platform.

PTLC Subscriber Information System: A reporting system developed to automate the routine traffic and subscriber status report generation process in Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited telephone (PTCL) exchanges handling 10,000 to 18,000 subscribers per exchange. Strong WillWires Industries Accounts System: It is a Client-Server Accounting application which runs on an intranet based environment and comprises of Receivables, Payables, General Ledger, Bank, Cash and Reporting modules. The project was developed using VB .Net, Crystal Reports 9 and MS SQL SERVER in MS Windows platform.

Session And District Court Information System: The system maintains the database of all the cases, their hearings, proceedings, results and case diaries. Technologies used were Visual Basic .Net, Crystal Reports 9 and MS Access over Windows platform.
