Employment Gap
I lost a great opportunity in Lexington KY because of the Covid Pandemic and I refused to take a Vaccine in order to apply for new opportunities. After the Bloom Contract I decided to take time off for the rest of the year to experience Retirement and I do not like it. So, I decided to go back to work but in January of 2023 I got a Sinus Infection and had double vision until July. I waited to make sure this ailment would not return. So, in January of 2024 I began looking for an opportunity that will allow me to use the Gifts I have been given and the Knowledge that I have obtained.
I have also been reluctant to commit to anything until after the election but as I expected, with a new government the economy will boom. I imagine you may have reservations about my age but I am in excellent health and good physical condition and have NO desire to retire and Idleness is the formula for declining health and mental ability. I can guarantee at least 4 years, probably more and as you know, there is always turnover.

My project was changing the Combustion Controls for 2 large Power Houses that were controlled with a Honeywell DCS System. elimination of some fuels. I made changes to the Honeywell Configuration and supervised the Field Changes and Documentation
Systems Technologies
Owner / Consultant Engineer
1998 to 2015
I provided services to a variety of Industries through Systems Technologies, which included;
Turn-Key Projects, design, programming, installation, commissioning and training
Union Carbide = partial project list
● Drum Handling Control
There were 3 Products loaded in drums from 3 different locations. The Drums were conveyed by a common Conveyor which transferred the drums to 3 different Transport Trucks. The origination of a drum was identified with a large sticker which was used to direct the drum to the proper Truck. This was accomplished using a scanner and gates.
● Napolean Miss – Natural Gas Stripping Station. Was commissioned to install and Startup a Control Upgrade
Monsanto
● Designed and Installed and Addition to a Combustion Control System that utilized waste Gas that was previously vented.
FMC – Partial List
● Maintenance Support, I was on 24/7 Callout for maintenance support, primarily for Siemens PLCs but also included field devices.
● Kronitex Expansion – a Major Project. I provided Electrical and Controls design and purchased equipment, which included additions to the Siemens PLC System, Fabrication of 3 additional PLC Cabinets, addition to the MCC.
Hired Electrical Contractor, coordinated construction with Plant and Mechanical Contractor using Primavera Provided QC during construction, Checkout, Commissioning and Training on the new controls and HMI Screens.
● Boiler - After the failure of an Engineering Firm to upgrade the Boiler Controls, I was given this project by the Plant Manager to redesign the Boiler Controls. I updated the P&IDs, provided detail design changes, hired an Electrical Contractor, programmed the PLC and HMI, put the PLC on the Plant Network and put and HMI Moniot in the Plant Managers office. Again, I provided Checkout, Commissioning and Training.
● Waste Treatment – Problem, could not get Outfall into compliance. Again, the Plant Manager gave me this project. The New Waste Treatment System consisted of 2 Parallel Digesters with Aerobic and Anaerobic Digestion Cycles. I took some samples to the lab, did my calculations and suggested reconfiguration; put the Digesters in Series and use only Aerobic Digestion. It worked so well that my next project was a Filter Press.
AK Steel – Partial List
● Amanda Blast Furnace – Problems with the old Combustion Controls. I Designed a New Control System using a Siemens PLC and it was a success.
Alpha Natural Resources – Partial List
● Maintenance – I was on 24/7 Callout for Maintenance Support
● 3 Stacker System – New Addition
Provided Design of the New System which had automatic Stack transfer based on Level. It utilized 2 PLCs and 2 HMIs. Worked with Company’s Electrical Contractor to oversee installation, programmed both PLCs, provided supervision of checkout and provided Operator Training
● Prep Plant Injection System
This involved 5 miles of pipeline with leak detection control by the PLC. I provided Electrical Design for the controls and fiber network, checkout and support.
● Maintenance for Mossy Facility
I was called out on an emergency because the facility was down. ‘The Allen Bradley PLC had failed and there was no backup. There was no copy of the PLC Program or HMI Program. I could retrieve the PLC Program from the failed PLC but it was undocumented. I got the Plant Running and was in the process of documenting the PLC program when I discovered the Method of Control, they were not using the Primary and Secondary Diverter Valves for Density Control. I enquired about their use of Magnetite and was told 2-3 truck loads a week. I changed the control scheme and was in the process of changing the HMI and discovered they did not have a development System, so I replaced the HMI and programmed from scratch.
Mount Olive Correctional Facility
● Maintenance Callout
The Facility, recently completed, had 24 Siemens PLCs on a Copper Token Passing Network and lightning had destroyed the Network. I spent less than a day and was asked if I could repair the System. I told them it was a waste of time, they did not have a proper Ground System and Lightning world destroy it again and suggested replacing the Copper with Fiber. I was told to repair the Network which I did. A few months later Lightning had destroyed the Network again. This time the paid an Out-of-State Engineering Firm $150,00 to tell them exactly what I told them my first day. I was then giver the Contract to replace the Copper with Fiber.
● Maintenance Support
I continued to provide Maintenance Support and a Couple of years later I got a call for support for checkout of the Copper Networks for the Smoke and Fire Alarms. Again I told them it was a waste of time and they told,me they had just purchased an Umbrella Lighting Protection System. I told them the System would not work without a Ground. I was told to rush to State Purchasing and Stop the Purchase Order

Summary
I recently attended a high school class picnic and that caused me to be concerned about the perception of my age. I am not typical, I am 6’2” 220 lbs, in excellent health and better physical condition than most. I am in excellent health and better physical condition than most, and I intend to work many more years. I have had my taste of retirement and it is not for me.
I am considered to be a very good engineer and I have high ethical standards and I am dependable.
Covid forced me into experiencing retirement and it is not for me. I will work at least 4 more years and probably more. In today’s environment, no employer knows what the economy will be in 4 years.
