I monitored CPOF systems, CCTV cameras, and base communications as well as coordinated with the Quick Reaction Force for proper response to emergency situations in or around the perimeter and along Route Irish. I was assigned as a Subject Matter Expert with an Iraqi interpreter to the U.S. Army’s 388th Military Police unit from Ft. Benning to develop the Iraqi police SWAT teams in the Maysan Province of Iraq. I instructed the Iraqi SWAT through use of my interpreter in CQB missions searching for known terrorists wanted for various high-threat crimes against the Iraqi police and U.S. forces. I advised the Iraqi police in security and logistics of their own operations. I instructed them on how to check weapon inventory, taught marksmanship and maintenance of their weapons, and conducted weekly training in patrol tactics, warrant services, arrest techniques and SWAT CQB tactics at the district headquarters. After that, I was embedded with a U.S. Marine Corps (PTT Team) in the Al Anbar Province. We conducted security operations with Iraqi police setting up checkpoints and limiting access in and out of the cities in the area. We developed a partnership to teach, train, mentor, and assess the Iraqi police at the district and station levels through working closely with Arabic interpreters.
