Duties

Supervise every running of the antenatal/maternity unit to ensuring service provision in accordance with international best practices and treatment protocols

Ensure the unit has the appropriate complement of human resources, organize and oversee the team's duties, assess their performance, and identify the need for staff capacity building and ensure continuous medical education.

Ensure strict compliance to established health center policies, procedures and objectives including continuous quality improvement initiatives; safety, environmental, and infection prevention control standards.

Provided technical and programmatic support using international best practices for the planning, implementation and evaluation of adult and pediatric ART, PMTCT, HIV/TB and HIV clinical care, including budget/financial planning.

Counsel and educate women, the family and the community, in relevant areas of health and provide a programmed of parenthood preparation and a complete preparation for childbirth including advice on hygiene and nutrition

Provide comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and post-natal care for pregnant women including counselling, conduction of screening tests and treatment of common illnesses at both in-facility and community level through outreaches.

Identification of high-risk pregnancies and making referrals to doctors and other medical specialists.

Work with clients to develop individual Service Coordination Plan which includes realistic, measurable, and mutually acceptable goals that are based on the results of the initial assessment aimed at optimizing patient’s compliance with clinical recommendation

Monitor pregnant women in labour based on standard procedures and protocols, conduct safe deliveries and provide standard care for the newborn infant.

Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care.

Provide post abortion care and services including linkage for support services.

Facilitated facility-based program meetings including continuous medical education (CME), Patient Care (multidisciplinary team) Team Meeting, Facility quality improvement team meetings
