Greetings! My name is Edward Borja. May i present a summary of my qualifications with succeeding documents presenting my formal Curriculum Vitae.
I am presently working as a professional swimming teacher, Junior development swimming coach for Harrywright International, Ltd, Hong Kong for seven years. I am also designated as an Aquatic Manager for one of the company’s major school sites. This employment involved teaching and managing all swimming learning levels from Infant Aquatics, Learn to Swim towards Squad training. Taught and managed after-school swimming activities such as basic learn-to-swim lessons, advanced swimming lessons, toddler and parent-assisted infant and preschool lessons. Experienced in competitive swimming tasks being assigned to coach the Junior, Senior and Elite Swimming Squads for the South China Athletic Association that represent the said organization in Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association’s Division 2, Division 1 and Age Group Championship competitions. Along with coaching, performed additional administration responsibilities such as attendance monitoring, recording and filing of meet and individual results and entering and registering swimmers in the said meets with the use of the Team Manager software. Experienced in handling and managing swimming competitions when home club is host. AUSTSWIM / ASCTA registered TCS and International Bronze License completed 2013 and International Silver License / Accreditation completed 2015 along with updated First Aid and CPR, Water Safety and AED certified by First Aid International, UK. Recently accomplished my Advance Coaching Certification from ASCTA and First Aid Certification from the National CPR Foundation, USA.
I was regularly assigned as a facilitator and Lead Coach for the development group in three HWI Competitive Swim camps (2015 with Australian Coach Doug Frost, 2017 and 2018 / 2019 with American Coach Todd Schmidt).
I was tasked to be a facilitator and resource speaker for two professional development clinics for the company’s teachers and coaches with the topics; Effective Approaches in teaching swimming and Child Psychology for Swim teachers. This is because I am considered as an all around teacher specialised for all levels of Infant aquatic teaching and management, very well trained and experienced in all the Learn to Swim and Development levels of Swimming Teaching, as well as extensively exposed and experienced on all levels of competitive swimming and training for all age groups either for local and international competitions.
I also took the roles of being Swimming Programme Manager and Senior Swimming Coach for the English School Foundation (ESF Schools). Headed the Health and Safety program for ESF Sports, headed the Sports Assistants Training Program, and was also one of the leads in Child Protection and Safety for ESF Schools.
Experienced in the training and handling swimming Teams for international competitions being a former national swimming coach and trainer. Head Coach for the Philippine National Team for the 1989 and 1991 Southeast Asian Games. Have been National Head Coach for the Philippine Swimming Team for the 1989, 1991 and 1993 ASEAN Age Group Swimming Championships. Have coached, managed and represented private swim clubs in national and international amateur swimming competitions since 1985. Head Coach for the National Capital Region for the Annual National Games for 16 years.
Authored, designed and handled the School Sports Swimming Development Program for Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines and have worked with various schools around Metro Manila and nearby provinces for Swimming Clinics that deals with Basic Learn to Swim, Advance and Competitive Swimming Instructional modules.
As an Educator, have taught Physical Education on all fields of sports and health education in the following educational institutions: 2007 – 2011 School of St. Anthony, Quezon City Philippines for (5) five years, 1999 – 2007 (8) eight years in the Ateneo De Manila University,Philippines, and 1987 – 1999 (12) twelve years in Marist School Middle School Marikina, Philippines.
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Majoring in Management from the Philippine School of Business Administration. Have also acquired a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Also have a Master’s degree on Physical Education with minor in sports science from the University of the Philippines.
Have experience and background in Sporting Events Management, Sports Marketing, Strength Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Injury first aid and treatment with knowledge in sports taping. Experienced in Design and Implementation of Workout Camps, Athletic Financial Services and Sponsorships, Sports Legal and Compliance Systems, Athlete Counseling for Education and Careers, and Player Representation.
Trained and experienced in Life Saving and Water Safety and Rescue with Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid and updated CPR training with the Philippine National Red Cross Manila Chapter Year 2007 effective 2008 and 2009.
Swimming Coaching Licenses acquired initially through the American Swimming Coaches Association Level 2 and World Swimming Coaches Association Level 2.
Have been trained and exposed in public speaking and conducting group presentations and facilitated lectures on bank operation systems. Trained and experienced with an arm of the Human Resources Department with recruitment and training of new bank personnel prior to assigning hired employees to various positions in the bank. Have also been trained and have conducted training seminars and lectures for new bank personnel on customer service workshops, team-building seminars, operation-related functions such as marketing strategies, crisis public relations, business negotiations, bank services presentations and effective presentation skills (Training the Trainers). Have been trained and exposed with applicant screening and testing, and interpretation of results for employee recruitment. Have been trained with the Job Street on-line recruitment system. Have training and experience in account management for loan processes such as package presentation to clients on financial probabilities for loan applications and their corresponding terms and conditions, repackaging schemes for negotiated term payments. Have lectured on mortgage banking / housing loans to new account officers and account officer assistants. Trained and exposed in credit investigation of prospective loan clients. Proficient in using all Microsoft Office software programs, Meet and Team Manager programs for swimming team management.
