Technical Competencies
Carries out servicing, tune-ups and repairing of the vehicles and equipment generators and forklifts in accordance with the manufacturers ‘guidelines and within a short period of time.
Actively participates as a member of the team and promotes a team spirit and environment.
Ensures that all standards in the health and safety policy are adhered to, at all times and implementation if they are not in place.
Diagnoses of Vehicles,forklifts and Equipment Generators faults and recommends possible solutions

Transport, Logistics and Fleet Management Services
To ensure safety precautions, safety wear and health standards are strictly adhered to on the work place by all workshop staff
Negotiate for Credit lines and Service Level Agreements with suppliers and follow up on all repairs internal and external and keep all the necessary records.
Capable of liaising with approved service providers for a better service and implements cost cutting measures on the company logistics for example by proper scheduling and routing, maximising the utilisation of all vehicles through efficient load allocation and return or back loads, use of shorter and good roads .
Capable of calculating fleet costs thus developing and maintaining a system to monitor the performance or operating cost of each vehicle using major cost centres such as the service, tyres, fuel consumption, drivers and mechanics salaries, oil for top up and other related costs.
Identify cost saving opportunities by implementation of preventative maintenance programs, morning checks, since these proactive schedules reduces breakdowns, down time and increases production.
Quality control checks on repair work performed this includes physical inspection and final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks prior to release.
Conducts road assessments to all prospective organisation’s drivers sent through by Human Resources and ensures that they read, understand and sign the vehicle policy upon reaching the pass mark. This minimizes the chances of allocating a vehicle to an unskillful driver.
Completing the performance appraisals with subordinates as a way to measure the key result areas to performed tasks which means review performance on job tasks, delivery, driving habits, fuel consumption, delivery shortage, come backs.
Capable of advising management on fleet disposal and replacement programs.
Actively manages Apprentices in accordance with company policy and works purpose ensuring that apprentices are meeting the objectives of their Apprentice training.
Manages and coordinates all service related activities of the workshop to ensure a high level of service and repair work is produced at all times.
Provides leadership to the service team and ensures that service work is carried out effectively, efficiently and in a manner which will optimize profit for the company.
To plan the work schedule for the day as a first point of conduct, delegating work to drivers or workshop team and providing relevant or specialized technical support and expertise to subordinates where necessary.
To monitor and supervise the staff under the section as they execute their tasks and motivate them to achieve their goals. Tracking can be implemented as a monitoring tool on vehicles and the use of CCTV systems for security in a workshop or parts storeroom thereby reduces theft. The tracking reports generated during vehicle errands help in controlling of the vehicle movement and reduce abuse of vehicle and encourages driver to follow the designated routes.

Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property in order to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
Implementing vehicle and equipment security measures like installing wheel lock nuts, tracking devices, spare wheel locking mechanism and alarm systems.

Creating, monitoring and updating vehicle and equipment database as well as supervising and controlling of vehicles spare parts acquisition, issuance and usage and authorizes breakdown fuel requests, transport requests, parking fees,toll gates fees
Encourage staff members to report for work each day and possible additional work and sell extra work and services to customers to boost income
Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently ( resolves internal or external customer issues and complaints)
Ensuring adherence to Pre-Trip and Post-Trip checks on vehicles on a daily basis and performing P.D.I (Pre- Delivery Inspections) on the vehicles supplied to the company.
Implementing requirements from departments like the internal Risk, Audit and Government /compliance and regulation issues related to the vehicles as well as ensuring compliance of fixed aspects such as vehicle radio licenses, government license and insurance discs, certificate of fitness,permits are made available for display before expiry.
Carries out spot checks on vehicle and analysing of log books and keeping all the necessary records in a register.
