HVAC Designer – Huntington Ingalls Industries, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Avondale LA. (December 2018- to present)

Duties:

Model HVAC systems in 3-D for various projects using ShipConstructor for design work.

Used Navisworks to view piping, outfitting and electrical routing to help ensure that there are no interferences among the different disciplines while modeling the ductwork in ShipConstructor. This also includes close coordination with the other disciplines for a more cost-effective design effort with no rerouting required.

Calculate penetrations in the structure of the ship and process them for approval by coordinating with the penetration control group to ensure there are no rejections.

Ensure compliance of my product with Navy standards, specifications, and conventions to make sure they will be approved during technical checking. This includes close coordination with the HVAC Design Engineers.

Create 2D extractions of HVAC arrangement and fabrication drawings using ShipConstructor to issue the product to the shipyard for fabrication and implementation.

Generate change papers to incorporate revisions made by the Navy which includes modeling and 2D extractions pertinent to the modifications requested and issuing these to the shipyard.
