Independent Sole Provider with full accountability for patient outcomes, including cancelation of cases, pre-op assessments, utilizing anesthesia phases of induction and maintenance, post procedural care, transport to Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), reporting to Accepting Nurse, pain management, and patient discharge.
Manage high-risk patients, acquiring patient data ahead of procedure, creating list of “flagged” items for staff review prior to patient admittance to facility, and assessment of file for additional patient needs, rescheduling, or transferring patient to hospital for procedure.
Pre-op assessment, encompasses chart review, interview and physical assessment of patient, obtaining complete medical history, evaluating difficulties with anesthesia in the past, and determination of fitness for surgery or procedure.

The Need of Handoff Documentation in Operative Suites at Ochsner Kenner Medical Center
Created handoff procedure document as dissertation for patients to mitigate risks. Process was implemented into EPIC System for Ochsner Kenner Medical Center facility. Research included LANA and AANA surveys to determine current facilities with handoff documentation, obtaining copies, and development of handoff procedures specific to OKMC facility encompassed within a 40-page document.
