General Manager, Environmental Sustainability 2008 - 2019

Developed and implemented Delta’s sustainability and environmental health programs. Led staff of 4 professionals and oversaw company’s sustainability programs, including carbon management and Corporate Responsibility Report, and environmental health programs, including industrial hygiene, ergonomics, air quality in facilities and on aircraft, and chemical / hazardous material management.

Liaised with Fleet Strategy and Fuel Management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from aircraft by 11% from 2005 levels, despite 25% increase in passenger-miles.

Assessed health hazards associated with new aircraft maintenance processes, such as additive manufacturing and fluoride ion cleaning, resulting in increased worker awareness of hazards and precautions.

Engaged customers, employees, and investors on environmental sustainability, helping to differentiate company from competitors.

Managed $4.5M annual budget, including $3.7M for contractor services, such as implementation of sustainability initiatives and operation of wastewater treatment facility.

Manager, Industrial Hygiene

Established corporate industrial hygiene program. Implemented consultant-like approach to providing IH services across all operating divisions. Led a team which effectively addressed causes of overexertion injuries associated with baggage handling and partnered with In-Flight Service to reduce beverage cart-related musculoskeletal injuries, resulting in significant reductions in injury frequencies, severities, and costs.

Implemented cadmium and chromium programs at company’s maintenance base and worked with shops to improve workplace controls for hazardous air contaminants, achieving removal of most employees from medical surveillance requirements of these programs.
