Social Studies Educator
Taught Economics and Personal Finance, U.S. Government, World History and AVID Courses. Employed both synchronous and asynchronous teaching methods to deliver engaging content and effective learning strategies based on the latest professional development research and teacher training to attain positive student outcomes.
Encouraged a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fostered student content engagement, analytic
reasoning, creativity, and problem solving. Students met and exceeded county and school-wide teaching standards that was evidenced by Maryland State and Baltimore County Academic testing and course pass rates.
Achievements include adapting teaching practices to include the effective delivery of online pedagogy during COVID Crisis for a year and a half. Responsible for overseeing MCEE economic and personal finance programming which include working with team to provide and deliver graduate coursework through the Towson Learning Network (TLN), and the development and delivery of state-wide economic and personal finance professional development workshops and the creation and delivery of MSDE/CPD certified courses for K-12 educators. Consult on economic education and personal finance curriculum development projects with individual school systems. Plan and conduct economic and financial education programs for employees, parents and or other audiences to promote MCEE’s mission to empower Maryland teachers with the content and pedagogy they require to confidently infuse economic and financial literacy instruction. Also assist with the planning and implementation of regional and statewide MCEE awards programs, competitions and other special events.
Meet with county supervisors and local school administrators to assess economic and financial education needs and work collaboratively to determine how best to meet those needs. Vet and identify economic and personal finance teaching resources that best support local school districts, and MSDE initiatives. Have also worked collaboratively to develop teaching standards, curricula, and identified teaching resources that were incorporated into county curricula. Subjects include MSDE Social Studies College & Career Ready Skills and Processes, World History, and U.S. History state standards workgroup, Baltimore County Personal Finance Secondary curriculum work, Washington and Caroline County Elementary Social Studies Economics Resources.
Serve as the Maryland Council on Economic Education’s liaison to the Maryland Department of Education on Economic and financial education standards and assessments and work with the national Council on Economic Education (CEE) and its state affiliates to support ongoing economic and personal finance education initiatives in Maryland and represent MCEE at local, regional, and national conferences. Also served on various boards and committees to support the larger financial and economic education community such as the Maryland State Department of Education’s Social Studies Department, Baltimore County Academy of Finance Board, and the National Associate of Economic Educators (NAEE).
Applied and completed grant funding documents for MCEE, a non-profit entity to support programming. Also provided appropriate documentation and program assessment to demonstrate program effectiveness and meet grant requirements.

Senior Economic Education Specialist
Delivered instruction in economic and financial literacy education to the general public, professionals, college and K-12 adult educators and K-16 students; Richmond Fed territory includes Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Averaged (1 to 2) city, county, state or non-profit professional development and or resource sessions per quarter.
Organized/helped lead the Joint Council on Economic and Financial Education for the 5th District and designed and contributed to research driven programming. Annual meeting, initiated in 2011, featured content experts and the latest research in economic and financial education, and shared best practices in education pedagogy and non-profit program evaluation and assessment. Participants included State Departments of Education Administrators, Bankers Associations, State Councils on Economic Education, and their respective Board Members.
Developed, created and collaborated on a number of economic and financial education content driven programs and presented at state and national conferences. Wrote and published lesson plans, activities, and assessments for the 5th Federal Reserve District that correlated with state and national standards.
