Associate Test Engineer III. Responsible for, international travel to customer locations at two-week intervals to install, configure, troubleshoot and, perform acceptance testing of KLA-Tencor capital equipment used in research, development and manufacturing within the semiconductor industry. The customer base includes such companies as INTEL, IBM, MOTOROLA, SONY, and TSMC to name a few. Perform installation of KLA2135, 2138, ADC/ILM, and 2552 defect detection and analysis equipment. KLAC’s line of wafer inspection systems are optical/electronic/mechanical systems. Duties involve supporting, installation, qualification, documentation and report completion, application support and retrofits of KLAC's automated Wafer Inspection systems. Sub-systems include image-processing hardware/software. Earlier defect detection systems are controlled by Motorola’s 68xxx VME based computer and 24 Intel Mpus. The KLA21xx is based on Intel’s Pentium and operates in a DOS environment with KLA and third-party software. The KLA255x analysis system is PC based, and runs in a UNIX environment utilizing XUI windows, RS1, NFS and Kla application software, an Informix Relational Database and Ethernet networking. ADC/ILM is WINDOWS based. These Optical/Image processing systems are designed to detect sub-micron defects in the manufacturing of semiconductor devices. The function of the equipment is to improve yields, throughput and help engineers analyze processes and develop procedures using SPC techniques in a clean room environment.
