DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS A NURSE:

Receiving Intensive Care Unit cases with responsibilities

Triaging patients according to severity of condition

Managing patients during emergency code

Recording ECG. Perform ABG and VBG procedure

Administration of medication, IV fluids, blood and blood products

Managing equipment’s such as ventilator and Bipap machine

Preparing and assisting for procedures such as LP, suture removal, dressing, catheterization, Central line insertion, ICD insertion, intubation, arterial line insertion

Keen observation of emergency cases and initiate the life saving measures immediately as needed.

Prepare the patient and do CRRT as per order.

Prepare the patient for surgeries and investigations like X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopic procedures, MRI, CT SCAN, ECHO and pulmonary function test etc. when it is required.

Taking full care in maintaining sterility of the unit.

Decontaminating and taking care of all instruments for sterilization.

Practice infection control measures including hand washing, glowing, gowning as required.

Maintaining Admission, Transfer and Discharge register.

Rounds with doctors and carrying out the instructions.

Maintaining proper inventories.

Organize and direct functions and activities related to patient care in Intensive Care Unit during team leader duty

Planning and discussing about the job responsibilities with seniors and team members.

Maintaining a good IPR with the clients, their significant others and team members to ensure the effective communication.
