During my time here, I have gained knowledge in a management position in a quick-paced high- volume restaurant environment. I’ve learned how to prepare schedules, interview potential employees, handle employee issues, shift covers, call-outs, and request time off. I was responsible for overseeing that the staff under my management were efficiently and effectively attending to their assigned duties. I have also learned how to coordinate events and prepare reservations for large parties. I have also become knowledgeable about alcoholic beverages such as cocktails and wine varieties. I also assisted in taking down alcoholic beverage orders and running them to the tables.

I am the owner of a thrift and vintage clothing boutique. I operate my business online and through pop-up flea markets. I am the sole operator of the boutique. My responsibilities include carefully sourcing and thrifting all my inventory to make sure it’s of high quality. I am also skilled at identifying and dating true vintage and authentic designer brands. I handle all budgeting and accounting such as profit and losses, balancing of accounts, expense reports, and gross sales generated from both my online shop and pop-up shops. I handle the pricing of all items based on quality, brand, demand, and current trends. I am also a personal shopper and personal stylist curating outfits based on my client’s requests. I am also responsible for meeting package delivery deadlines to make sure my clients have the best customer service experience possible. My Depop shop currently has a 4.8 rating and a rapidly growing customer base.

I learned secretarial and administrative skills during my time here. I was responsible for filing corporate documents, tax documents, answering calls, greeting and checking in clients, preparing coffee and other snacks and beverages for the clients, sending out emails, and passing on messages. I also developed various multi-tasking skills.

During my employment here, I was tasked with covering every FOH position. I also was asked to help out in the kitchen from time to time with slicing and dicing fruits and vegetables. I worked the hostess stand, busser, food runner, drink runner, and server. This restaurant puts a big emphasis on teamwork, customer service, and cross-training its employees.

Working here I had to cover many positions. I became knowledgeable in high fashion designer brands, especially handbags. I learned how to handle and prep delicate and vintage clothing pieces for re-sale by often sewing and steaming such items. I was responsible for assisting customers in putting together costumes and outfits. I was also responsible for answering phone calls and questions from the customers and examining designer items brought in for purchase by customers for authenticity, sales, and cash register.

This was a seasonal job during the holidays. I worked as a part-time sales associate with a base salary and commission. I learned sales techniques and leadership skills. I also learned how to understand the customer’s needs and wants so that I could provide them with what they were looking for.

I was responsible for greeting guests professionally and courteously once they were seated at their table, recommending specials or new items, efficiently taking down their orders, and answering any questions they had regarding items on the menu. Responsible for seven tables at a time, carrying plates and drinks and properly setting them on the table on time. I maintained thorough communication with kitchen staff, hostesses, other servers, and management. I was also responsible for entering the orders into the system, preparing the itemized check, collecting payments, and reconciling. During my last year there I also became key holder and trained new hostesses and servers.

This was my first job that taught me all the basic employee skills I have carried on throughout the years in all my workplaces.
