LEGAL EXPERIENCE AND PRIOR AFFILIATIONS
Robert P. Visser, founder of Visser Law Chartered and the Business Consulting Group, is a corporate attorney and business executive who has represented major United States and foreign clients in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Far and Middle East, and South America. He specializes in international investment, finance and trade, with emphasis on the Far East, Middle East and Europe. He is a member of the New York, Washington, DC, and California (currently inactive) Bars and has practiced with major law firms in all three jurisdictions, including Mudge, Rose, Guthrie & Alexander (NYC and DC), Howard. Prim et al (San Francisco) and Bryan Cave (DC).
His experience includes the development of foreign investments in the United States, international trade, investment and finance, off-shore corporations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, governmental relations, administrative regulation, banking and general corporate and commercial matters, venture capital and other merchant and investment banking transactions, finance and securities law, as well as international arbitration and commercial litigation before state and federal courts.
He was the founder and Chairman of Vistra International Group, an international trading and investment company involved particularly in the Pacific Basin Region. He successfully co founded a federally chartered bank, The National Bank of Northern Virginia and its holding company, The Northern Virginia Banking Corp.
In addition to law, business and finance, Mr. Visser has also been engaged in a governmental relations practice involving national issues regarding executive and legislative branch representation, as well as various regulatory agencies. He has supervised corporate governmental relations programs and represented various trade associations, venture capital, banking, business and economic interests.
He served as General Counsel to the national campaigns of Presidents George H.W. Bush and Gerald R. Ford, and as special counsel and senior advisor to Vice President Bush. He was twice appointed by President Reagan to The Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations, the senior advisory panel to the President on foreign trade issues.
