PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Over 30 years of supply chain management experience, including 15 years in leadership roles at the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), with roles spanning procurement and logistics planning, land transportation fleet management, and contracting and procurement support for hydrocarbon exploration, well engineering, hydrocarbon processing facilities construction projects, production operations, facilities maintenance, and pipelines engineering.

• Supply Chain Manager, Chrome Consortium Energy Nigeria Ltd (June 2024 to date) Leading a team of contracting and procurement specialist responsible for strategy framing, tactics development, and operational implementation of materials, equipment, and services procurement for Phase 2 of 1074MW Combine Cycle Power Plant Project at Alaoji, Aba, Nigeria.

• Managing Director, Faemonda Limited (January 2019 to May 2024) Managing a personal startup – Faemonda Ltd, with objects spanning consultancy in supply chain management, logistics, and project management; business analytics/research; agribusiness.

• Project Contracting and Procurement Lead, Assa North/Ohaji South Project (April 2012 to Dec 2018) Led a team of contracting and procurement specialists that delivered commercial awards leading to final investment decision for the SPDC’s Assa North/Ohaji South Project, a 300 million scf/day gas development project in Imo State, Nigeria with scope covering hydrocarbon processing, pipelines, power generation, and field logistics base. This role involved a series of value improvement initiatives to develop optimized contracting and procurement strategies that include “EP + C” contract model and “Convertible Lumpsum Construction” contract model (novel to SPDC) for the Primary Treatment Facility Scope, resulting in target cost savings of over 500 million US dollars and improved economics.

• Contracting & Procurement Consultant, Gbaran Ubie Integrated Oil & Gas Project (Jan 2009 to March 2012)

Carried out post award contract management for four mega project EPC contracts for the SPDC’s 1 billion scf/day Gbaran Ubie Project Phase 1 (comprising Central Processing Facility, Field Logistics Base, Pipelines Infrastructure, and Shore Protection) and saved over 40 million US dollars through post contract award negotiations with major EPC contractors (Daewoo, Saipem, Julius Berger).

• Contracts Management Specialist (July 2008 - Dec 2008) Provided six months contracting and procurement consultancy to Pecten Cameroon Company LLC, Douala, Cameroon, resulting in swift completion and contract awards for previously stalled tenders; trained contract holders on pre and post award contract management; overhauled the post award contract management process including introduction of monthly contract management reviews; and developed asset disposal procedure that streamlined disposal of company assets, ensured transparency, and maximized residual value recovery.

• Contracts Resource Lead (Nov 2007 - June 2008)

Led a team of 11 contracts specialists/category managers at dispersed locations in Port Harcourt and Warri Nigeria who were responsible for pre and post award contract management of contracts for Exploration, Well Engineering, and Facilities Management departments of SPDC, covering both land and shallow offshore terrains, with an annual spend of about 500 million US dollars. As Category Manager for Drilling Waste, I developed and deployed alternative contracting strategy that changed pricing structure for drilling waste management from long established equipment hourly and day rates to unit rates for volume of waste processed resulting in over 30% savings on drilling waste management cost.

• SCM Wells Services Lead (Jan 2005 - Oct 2007)

Led a team of four category managers responsible for pre and post award contract management for well engineering equipment and service categories comprising Supply of Wellhead Systems, Wells Completions services, Wells Maintenance services, Fishing/Milling/Well Control, and Drilling Waste Management with annual spend of 200 million US dollars.

Coordinated business performance reviews (BPR) for major Well Engineering contracts with Schlumberger and Halliburton covering Nigeria, Gabon, and Cameroun as part of Well Engineering products and services categories management optimization. Key outcome was commitment by senior leaders of the contractor companies to improve HSE, operational excellence, and commercial performances.

• Team Leader Production Field Projects Procurement (July 2003 - Dec 2004) Led a team of six buyers responsible for procurement of engineering materials for Production Asset Function with annual spend of 300 million US dollars. Through monthly forward planning meetings, my team influenced the project engineering teams to identify requirements early, allowing sufficient sourcing time and this resulted in over 90% on time delivery of project materials. I participated in cross functional value engineering study that identified options to significantly improve economics for development of the H, J, K, shallow offshore fields.

• Team Leader Pipelines Contracting (Jan 2003 - June 2003) Led a team of four contract engineers responsible for pre and post award management of contracts for pipelines construction, repairs, intelligent and routine pigging, de-sanding, spill containment and clean-up with annual spend of over 100 million US dollars.

• Senior Stock Analyst/Buyer (Aug 2001 - Dec 2002) Carried out procurement of crude oil delivery pumps, compressors, turbines, heavy trucks, and spare parts in support of hydrocarbon production operations. Negotiated price agreements with local agents of various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Alstom Turbines, Solar Turbines, and National Oilwell Pumps. Thinking outside the box, I secured a step out approval from tenders’ board for a direct procurement of National Oil Well pumps from the OEM instead of traditional use of third-party vendors and thus saved over 1.8 million US dollars.

• Senior Technical Buyer, Projects (Aug 1999 - Aug 2001) Carried out procurement of engineering materials for new hydrocarbon production facilities and upgrade projects for both onshore and shallow offshore locations. These include fast track procurement of fire emergency response infrastructure (for the Bonny crude export terminal) using an unconventional supply chain arrangement that included consolidating in the United Kingdom various equipment sourced from diverse manufacturers in Europe, bulk delivery of the equipment to Port Harcourt using a jumbo cargo plane, and expedited delivery to Bonny Island ahead of customs clearing using customs bond instrument.

• Technical Buyer, Projects (July 1998 - Aug 1999) Carried out procurement of engineering materials for production facilities upgrades projects. Key element of this role was managing multiple interfaces with various equipment suppliers and Systems Integrator located across Europe and America to ensure delivery of fully integrated equipment that optimized site installation and commissioning.

• Senior Customer Services Supervisor (Oct 1997 - July 1998) Worked with various departments and buying teams to perform value analyses, standardize recurring demands, and develop service level agreements to improve customer satisfaction. I conducted customer satisfaction surveys and engaged with various procurement teams to address areas for improvement.

• Procedures Analyst (Feb 1995 – Oct 1997)

Managed development and revision of business procedures and job aids for Procurement & Logistics operations, trained staff in procedures writing, and conducted procedures and business process compliance audits.

• Fleet Control Supervisor (July 1993 - Aug 1995)

Managed a fleet of over 500 light and medium vehicles for SPDC’s operations. This comprised management of vehicle lease contracts, assignment of vehicles to departments and users, vehicle maintenance scheduling, replacement planning, write off and disposal. My notable contribution was the development of a computer database software tool (Vehicle Administration System) that simplified fleet accounting and daily reporting.
