Professional Experience

Sinclair Broadcast Group 1990-Present

WUTV / WNYO –TV Buffalo, NY Director of Engineering / Chief Engineer 2005 - Present

Leading a team of 3 engineers, 8 control room operators and 1 facilities supervisor at a dual-station Fox and MyTv network affiliate in Buffalo, NY.

Built the first HDTV facility within Sinclair Broadcasting in 2006. Developed HDTV commercial production workflow throughput from AVID platforms to the on-air playback servers to streamline automation. Helped develop the future workflow which is still used throughout the company today.

Project Management for office and studio building expansion project and transmitter installations. Worked with bidding, awarding contracts and supervising the contractors for the construction phase of the buildings.

Coordinated and supervised the move of WUTV offices, studios and personnel from Grand Island, NY, to a new location, co-locating with WNYO in Buffalo.

Installed new Satellite Dish Compound, (five 3.8meter dishes) for Fox network and syndicated programming.

Completed repack of WUTV and WNYO onto new channels including installation of transmitters, antennas and lines.

Moved Buffalo into the ATSC 3.0 world being the host station for 5 Buffalo market affiliates.

Project management on-time completeness, while maintaining at or below budget.

Maintaining maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment and transmitters; to highest level of efficiency and operation.

WTAT / WMMP –TV Charleston, SC Director of Engineering 1995 - 2005

Lead a team of 3 engineers and 8 control room operators at a dual-station Fox and UPN network affiliate.

Coordinated and supervised the move of WMMP offices, studios and personnel from Sullivan’s Island, SC to the new location, co-locating with WTAT in North Charleston, SC.

Project management of satellite dish compound (three-3.8 meter dishes), building generator install, and new transmitter building construction.

WUHF-TV Rochester, NY Assistant Chief Engineer 1990 - 1995

Assisted the Chief Engineer in all EEO and FCC compliance in this analog Beta tape plant. Equipment included Sony BVC-10 automation and DVE-9000 editing system. All maintenance and repair to the component level per manufacturers specifications for all broadcast switchers, one-inch tape machines, Beta inch tape format equipment and full power Harris BT-60 transmitter.

WMGC-TV Binghamton, NY Chief Engineer 1989 - 1990

All EEO and FCC compliance. Supervised one assistant and 8 master control operators. Responsible for all technical operations for this ABC affiliate with full news department. All maintenance and repairs were performed per manufacturer to the component level.

WMHT- AM/FM/TV Schenectady, NY Radio/Television Maintenance Technician 1987 - 1989

Staff maintenance technician for the PBS affiliate in Albany/Schenectady/Troy market. All maintenance and repair of all television and radio broadcast equipment and transmitters to the component level per manufacturers specifications.

WMGC / WBPM AM/FM Kingston, NY Chief Engineer 1985 - 1987

All EEO and FCC compliance. Supervised one assistant. Responsible for all technical operations for this ABC affiliate with full news department. Designed and built new AM, FM and news studios. Installed FM transmitters.

Curriculum of the first two years of BS Engineering of all disciplines. This major has a high concentration of advanced mathematics and physical sciences, along with all engineering courses.

United States Navy Service Schools and Active Duty Command FTM3 1980- 1982

FT “A” School for maintenance, repair and operation of AN/SPG 51 C/D Fire Control missile system and Mark 52 Radar with missile launchers, target designators and weapon systems. As a Fire Control Technician, I was required to master everything from amplidynes, to electromechanical and complex electronic circuits using various troubleshooting techniques. We practiced digital electronics, machine programming fundamentals and complex cooling systems for klystrons and anti-aircraft weapons.

Active Duty attached to Atlantic Fleet/Destroyer Squadron 6, (SurFlAnt/DesRon-6) Homeport: US Naval Base Charleston, SC Honorably discharged, 12 June 1982. I am proud of my tenure in the Navy as I wanted to establish a baseline from which I could build a rewarding career in technology
