I have experience in family medicine as well as neurosurgery. I have been in nursing since 2009 and I have served in the military as a medic.
EXPERIENCE
FNP-C, RNFA LA Spine Institute Sept 1, 2022 to present
Assisting neurosurgeon with surgeries involving the spine: cervical- fusions, decompressions and foraminomities; lumbar- fusions, decompressions, MLD’s and foraminomities.
During surgery: Prepping the Pt ready for surgery holding instruments, retraction and closure of patients (suturing)
Running clinic with the surgeon or often, alone. Pre and Post Op visits, pain crisis, post injections, follow up’s, workman’s comp. Patient average seen in a day 10-20, not including walk-in’s, pain crisis and hospital rounds.
Took part in care and management of patients involved in research studies.
Taking call; after hours and the weekend, done once every 4-6 weeks for a week at a time.
Administering trigger point injections; neck, back, hips, knees and shoulders.
Rounding at the hospital checking on post op patients and dealing with problems/issues.
Making referrals when appropriate.
Reading and recognizing basic imaging “problems”; MRI’s for spinal stenosis, etc; CT’s for bone spurs, pars defects, spondylolisthesis, etc.

Managed diabetes, thyroid, blood pressure, etc
Performed basic neurologic exams
Punch biopsies, skin tag removal for removal of nevi to diagnose and treat any possible dermatologic conditions.
Ordered and reviewed ordered tests: labs, EKG’s, radiologic studies.
Consult higher levels of care when needed and appropriate.
Did regular patient follow ups to allow for surveillance of any problems or changes to provide consistency in care.
