Future Employer:
Thank you for taking the time to read this cover letter. I am writing to notify you that I am greatly interested in being employed by your company. My resume may be confusing, so I would like to take a few moments to explain my situation. I fought for a long time to get healthy enough and feel safe for my patients to go back to being a nurse anesthetist. It was a career I loved and am so grateful to have worked in for so many years. I realize now that my career is taking a different direction.
I would like to get back into the work force. This is why I am applying with your company. Being a CRNA(certified registered nurse anesthetist), I managed total patient care during procedures and surgery at a University Medical Center filled with the sickest patients for over 15 years. Every week I had a nurse, respiratory therapy student, paramedic student, medical resident or anesthesia resident l was precepting. During the beginning of covid, I was on light duty for 7 months from a work injury and was using excel daily. I put together and evaluated various data sets for the anesthesia department. They also let me help with research data and compilation. After my second surgery on light duty, I did care management for around a month and got to work as a referral representative for about three to four months also. This opportunity allowed me to learn many new skills sets and brush up on old ones. I greeted clients, I answered phones, I used the computer program for appointment entry, I scanned, I typed, I talked to other offices to schedule appointments.
In my work experience, I had the privilege of learning many various jobs that I was employed at for various lengths of time. I learned the beginnings of management, worked on many different nursing units (not all are mentioned on my resume) and various education areas at a College of Nursing. I was asked to lecture various times for two different CRNA programs. I also taught the anesthesia department of over 300 plus various other surgeons and staff ACLS. In the beginning of my employment, I worked at; fast food, I was a waitress, I worked in an office doing bookkeeping. I then worked at the hotel on campus for over 5 years, I worked as a front desk clerk. Then, I became the night auditor and graduated to the assistant manager before leaving. I worked as a James Cancer referral specialist then went to the hospital switchboard prior to becoming a nurse. I worked in the SICU, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum, Telemetry and floated on nursing units while a nurse. I taught students at Mount Carmel College of Nursing before going back to school to become a nurse anesthetist. While being a nurse anesthetist, I also taught ACLS for 9.5 years to the entire department of over 300 plus other surgical employees. I also have a small property management/rental/rehab business that I help manage since 2016. I am a person who most people would like to know. I am kind and generous. I work very hard and am very driven. I love to speak to clients and make sure they have the best experience. I was chosen time and time again to provide personal anesthesia for coworkers and their families. I learn quickly and am not hesitant to take on a new task. I hope that you will give me a chance to interview for a position at your organization. My disability involves lifting due to my work injuries that led to three shoulder surgeries. Sincerely,
Kyriakoyla Varlas Fisher, MSN, BSN, CRNA, RN
