Pharmacy Work Experience

O’Donovan’s Life Pharmacy, Ballyphehane, Cork 2022 - Present OTC and Dispensary Assistant (Part-Time, Saturdays)

● Collaborate with a team of pharmacists and technicians to address customer queries and concerns in a busy community pharmacy.

● Deliver a high level of customer service in a friendly, enthusiastic and confidential manner, both at the healthcare counter and over the phone.

● Advise customers of the correct and safe use of health-related products, supplements and over-the-counter medicines.

● Ensure stock levels are maintained by placing orders to wholesalers and monitoring supply shortages.

● Provide information to customers with regards to skincare, cosmetics and hair care products Boots Summer Placement Programme, Bandon, Cork May - July 2023 Dispensary and OTC Assistant (Full Time)

● Took part in the eight week placement programme spending time working alongside the pharmacist in the dispensary, becoming familiar with MPS and interacting with patients.

● Completed the “Boots Healthcare Advisor Programme,” expanding my understanding of OTC products and acquiring knowledge in alternative healthcare domains, including vitamins and supplements.

● Took part in three experiential learning days in the Boots Ireland Divisional Support Office in Citywest, Dublin, meeting with senior members of the Boots Ireland team and discussing topics such as chronic lung conditions, training in blood pressure measurement and getting an insight into the evolving role of a pharmacist in Ireland.

Dispensary Assistant (Full-Time)

● Undertook the second year experiential learning placement in the dispensary of this busy local pharmacy.

● Worked alongside pharmacists and technicians to dispense prescriptions, prepare blister packs and liaise with doctors and hospital staff with regards to medication changes.

● Observed the pharmacists delivering Covid-19 vaccines and helped to organise the paperwork for these.

● Completed an experiential learning workbook which documented new learnings and enabled CPD (continuing professional development).

Hospitality Work Experience
