RESPONSIBILITIES

The mission of the Couple and Family Therapy programs is to provide the highest quality education, training, scholarship and service in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. We train ethical professionals to foster the well-being of individuals, children, couples, families, organizations, and communities primarily through improving relationships. The program specifically focuses on the understanding and respect for the diversity of human relationships across different populations from a variety of multicultural, socioeconomic, international backgrounds. Students are inspired to respect multiple dimensions of human diversity, develop a mature personal and professional identity, stay current with professional knowledge and practice, and make a positive difference for clients and society.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under the supervision of a LMFT and Associate professor, provide course curriculum to Master’s level students in the Couples and Family Therapy Theories and Practice Lab course.

Structure clinical training and interventions for classroom of seven students to prepare for clinical work in various therapeutic techniques and skills.

Structure course curriculum to include modern and postmodern theories and practices in Couples and Family Therapy and Systems Theory.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under the supervision of two licensed MFT’s, developed marketing strategies and skills to recruits clients from diverse populations and various socioeconomic status.

Formulated therapeutic strategies and interventions for clients entering therapy for personal needs and includes court mandated clients.

Constructed treatment plans for group members in anger management group in order to comply with court orders in order to reunite families after necessary techniques integrated in emotional regulation patterns.

CRISIS ACTION AND CONNECTION

CLINICIAN/CASE MANAGER October 2016 to January 2017

Assisted over 20 clients from diverse populations in crisis management from hospitalizations and history of trauma to improve coping skills, emotional management, and overall functioning.

Facilitated emotional process groups to increase insight, emotional awareness, and crisis management for up to 10 female youths at a residential group home.

Collaborated with doctors, mental health professionals, and interpreters to provide emotional and mental health support for clients as well as providing case management for clients for coordination of care.
