Professional Objectives:

I want individuals to learn skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, and word usage; my objective is to assist individuals whose immediate goal is passing examinations which measure these skills. However, I also want individuals to develop an appreciation for English Literature and creative writing and to apply these skills to any undertaking. Extensive work as an intern under the “ROR” program under the aegis of the New York State judicial system. College Program of North Carolina Central University, Undergraduate Division, Lithonia, Georgia: I taught substantive and procedural criminal law, constituting the basic elements of criminology, substantive criminal law, constitutional issues, basic elements of common law crimes, appropriate defenses to criminal liability, and historical and contemporary development of criminal responsibility.

Tutor of English Grammar, English Composition, and Reasoning Through Language Arts, Metro-Atlanta, Georgia: Individual and group tutoring of persons who are preparing for the GED examination. This instruction is an in depth analysis of grammatical principles; reading comprehension, and writing composition. I teach the lost art and discipline of “sentence diagramming” to demonstrate the dynamics of parts of speech and basic grammatical principles. My goal is not simply to teach people how to pass examinations, but to instill within them a permanent and improved appreciation for language and communication skills.

Superintendent of an Adult Sunday School Ministry, Metro-Atlanta, Georgia: During these weekly sessions, the class under the direction of the “superintendent” or “facilitator” participates in an intensive analysis of the Old and New Testaments and other written materials, by examining scripture and applying biblical principles to real life experiences. The classes delve beneath the superficial analysis of the “Word” and approach the Bible with nuance and with historical and literary interpretations, as well.
