Ascension: Rising to a Higher Level 6/14 –

Began providing pro bono services in my community of North St. Louis County after my previous position was de-funded. In-home services provided included: psychiatric assessments with psychotropic medication management, therapy, nursing case management and tutoring/educational support. During this timeframe, decided to start a new nonprofit to provide these same services with a mission to provide each youth with an opportunity to succeed. In December 2014, the company became licensed as a nonprofit in Missouri and on July 22, 2015 the IRS logged the company’s 501c3 application which awaits approval. In the meantime, the company obtained free space in which to practice and so the services continue to be provided by appointment with the pro bono collaborative agreement with a pediatric psychiatrist, free space and free care.

BJC Behavioral Health – Adolescent Intensive Out-Patient Program

Provided group facilitation for the older adolescent group and individual therapy for traumatized youth, in addition to medication management. The majority of these youth were not in their home of origin due to various types of trauma, including but not limited to: inutero drug/alchohol exposure, impaired caregivers (due to drug/alchohol use/abuse and/or mental illness); physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, sexual trafficking, self-medicating (drug or alchohol use), community violence, school violence and drug trafficking and violence related to the same.
