With over 15 years’ experience in the coating industry including 10 years of inspection work on offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, inland offshore platform new construction builds, pipe spool yards, above ground water and fuel storage tanks and refinery / petro chemical facilities. My roles and responsibilities have included managing the quality department of a large contractor’s south Texas division, developing and implementing an in-house NACE training program to train quality control personnel, developing and instructing an in depth NCCER instructional hands on training program for a coating department. My experience also includes providing 3rd party inspections in petro chemical plants and fabrication yards to assure all referenced standards and project specifications are enforced on a daily basis. I also have experience in the inspection processes as well as installation processes of thermal sprayed aluminum (tsa), intumescent fireproofing, cementitious fireproofing, generic epoxies, mastics, fusion bonded epoxies, plural component coatings, concrete liners, internal pipe and tank liners, epoxy modified cementitious mortars, urethane hybrids, under insulation coatings and high temp coatings.

PROJECTS

Shell Deer Park Aeration and Anoxic Tank New Construction 2015

As the 3rd party inspector my role and responsibility was to enforce and oversee that all surface preparation and product installation processes and methods met project specifications, manufacturer’s recommendations and project inspection test plans. Over 120,000 square feet of new concrete substrate dry abrasive blasted per SSPC SP 13, resurfaced with Carboline epoxy mortar, reinforced with polypropylene needle punched fabric and lined with Carboline Reactamine 760 urethane hybrid. Over 74,000 pounds of Carboguard 510sg epoxy modified cementitious mortar was installed by WIWA spray pump. Over 9,000 gallons of Carboline Reactamine 760 urethane hybrid installed by plural component pump.

Chevron Big Foot TLP Offshore Platform New Construction Ingleside, Texas 2013 - 2015

Quality Assurance Manager of the contractor performing work on this project. My role and responsibility was to oversee the inspections and conduct of 4 NACE inspectors I had designated to this project. The project included dry abrasive blasting and centrifugal surface preparations done on ferrous and nonferrous substrates throughout the structure. Power tools were also used as a surface prep method to achieve SSPC SP 11 standards. Generic epoxies, mastics, urethanes and intumescent fireproofing was installed throughout the structure. Host and attend client meeting on a weekly basis to provide project forecasts and update on structure and circuit releases.

Flint Hills Resources Refinery Corpus Christi, Texas 2013 - 2015

Site senior inspector for preferred contractor on site. My role and responsibility included the management of 4 NACE inspectors assigned to this facility, perform daily job site audits, advise production team on cost effective surface preparation and installation methods and attend monthly Quality meetings with Flint Hills Resources representatives. I also provided inspection support on tank programs, cui programs, turn around projects, soil to air programs, maintenance paint programs and capital projects. Inspected high temp coatings, cui coatings, generic epoxies, fusion bonded epoxies, urethanes, mastics, internal tank liners, cementitious fireproofing and intumescent fireproofing.

Valero Bill Greehey Refinery Corpus Christi, Texas 2014

Quality Assurance Manager for preferred contractor on site. My role and responsibility was manage the 2 NACE inspectors assigned to this facility. Perform random job site audits on a weekly basis. Advise production team on cost effective surface preparation and coating installation methods. I also provided inspection support on turn around programs, tank programs and capital projects.

Shell Olympus Offshore Platform New Construction and Integration Ingleside, Texas 2012

Site senior inspector for contractor performing work. My role and responsibility included daily surface preparation and material installation inspections. I also managed 2 NACE inspectors assigned to this project. Performed all required destructive and nondestructive testing required in hull and topsides. Hosted and attended monthly Quality meetings with Shell representatives. Inspected epoxy rich zinc, generic epoxies, urethanes, thermal sprayed aluminum (tsa) and intumescent fireproofing.

Chevron Jack St Malo Offshore Platform New Construction Build Ingleside, Texas 2011 - 2012

Site senior inspector for contractor performing work. My role and responsibility included daily surface preparation and installation of epoxy and urethane coatings. I also inspected and witnesses the installation intumescent fireproofing block outs and repairs on installed living quarters.

Shell Olympus Offshore Platform New Construction Build Ingleside, Texas 2011

Third party inspector contracted for contamination investigation. Steel bought for the construction of the platform was exposed to an onboard spill during overseas shipment to Ingleside, Texas. Identified and quarantined contaminated steel and along with investigation team developed a plan to decontaminate the steel. Performed nearly 200 c-s-n salts tests. Witnessed contractor decontamination process to verify recommended procedure was followed. All contaminated steel was decontaminated and passing retest results were submitted to client.

Citgo C.C. Refinery Corpus Christi, Texas 2010 – 2012

NACE 3 Inspector for site contractor. My role and responsibility included provided daily inspections on all surface preparations and coating installations. Performed destructive and nondestructive testing. Dedicated to turn around projects, soil to air programs and capital projects. Attended weekly project meetings with client representatives. I inspected epoxies, cui, high temp coatings, urethanes, coal tar, in service pipe spools, towers and exchangers.

Multiple Client Offshore Platforms in the Gulf Of Mexico 2004-2010

In house inspector and relief foreman. My role and responsibility included daily inspections of all surface preparation and coating installation throughout entire platform structures. Performed work and inspections on lift boats, pipe spools, top side structures, hulls, ballast tanks, water line support structures, decks, living quarters, helidecks and modules. Installed various types of rigging systems, used spiders/power stages and have used ultrahigh pressure surface preparation methods. Provided weekly project updates to client representatives.
