Senior researcher seeking opportunity in scientific lab

CAREER SUMMARY \

I am an experienced research worker with hands on experience in Planar Lipid Bilayer Experiments, Ion Channel recording of single molecule conductance using electrophysiological methods and have expertise in analysis and interpretation of data using sophisticated channel kinetics software. Have skills in formulation of single and multilamellar liposome, liposome based flux assays, Florescence, light scattering and Radioligand Labelling.

I worked on research projects dealing with isolation and purification of protein using gel electrophoresis, Western Blotting and Spectrophotometry. The proteins I worked with are influenza virus M2, hERG ion channel, TRPV1 ion channel and KCNE1 . These are some of the ion channels which are significant for their role in pain and diseases.

Have knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint in addition to the software programs required for

analysis and interpretation of data such as pclamp10, Tacfit, Sigmaplot Microsoft excel.

Excellent organization and management skills, ability to take initiative, to plan, to troubleshoot different experimental protocols.

Have experience of literature scanning and gathering the data, summarizing and reporting the results in scientific meetings and conferences. Have some publications in reputed scientific journals.

TECHNICAL RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Assistant development Scientist UCLA Los Angeles California Aug2011-May2015

Conducted research for the project : Measurement of IC 50 of membrane proteins,

HERG, TRPV1, KCNQ and voltage gated calcium channels using droplet lipid bilayers. Have experience

Of running patch clamp protocol and measuring channel conductance, ion selectivity and block.

The work involved cellular preparation for expressed ion channels and measurement of macroscopic

Currents to identify the characteristics of ion channel and determining IC50 with different drugs.

Presented posters in Biophysical society meetings.

Clinical Research Associate Certificate Program October 2009- January 2010

Completed Kriger International program, including organizing and handling clinical trials, reviewing protocols, designing and reviewing CRFs, developing study documents, organizing and presenting at investigator meetings.

University of Rochester, Rochester, NY May 2006- July 2008

Research Associate

Conducted research for project “Single Channel recording of Ryanodine receptor protein from skeletal muscle and the effect of mutation on the biophysical properties of the channel.” Learned to prepare protein isolation and purification and characterization for its incorporation in lipid membrane. Have experience to independently establish the Planar lipid bilayer technique and protocol in the lab. The techniques used in the lab for this projects are, sucrose gradient centrifugation, gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, Amido black method for protein estimation, radioligand labeling using radioisotopes, Planar lipid bilayer method and electrophysiology

Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah Feb 2002- April 2006

Research Associate

Conducted research for project “Single Channel recording of influenza virus AM2 protein reconstituted in Planar Lipid Bilayers and the effect of anti-viral drug, amantadine.” Learned about lipid chemistry and membrane proteins to understand transport of ions across lipid membrane using electrophysiology and common chemical and biochemical methods in the lab, such as Gel electrophoresis, Nickle column chromatography, UV-Visible spectrophotometry, pH metry, florescence, TLC, light scattering, lipid chemistry and Planar lipid bilayer method and electrophysiology.

University of Delhi, New Delhi, India July1999 –Feb 2002

Research Associate

Conducted research into grant-funded project, “Cation transport across cell membrane – the role of crown ethers as ion channels.” Worked on chemistry of alkali and alkaline earth cations and their complexation with crown ethers. Have experience of analyzing the chemicals using common chemistry techniques such as CHN, IR, NMR, UV, X-ray diffraction and conductometry.
