Conduct and regularly participate in risk assessment and conduct regular compliance checks and audits within the sites.
Regularly inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
Investigate industrial accidents, injuries or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safetyrequirements have been met.
Report and review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections or environmental testing.
Constantly review employee safety programmes to determine their adequacy.
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
Accompany staff from the Department of Environmental Health and Safety, Joint Health and Safety Committees and other internal/external agencies during workplace inspections.
Follow up on any deficiencies noted during inspections and ensure that they are corrected.
Circulate safety material/journals received from EH&S to appropriate members of the department.
Ensuring that monthly inspection of Fire Extinguishers, Exit Lights and Emergency Lighting, are carried out.
