Knit/ Woven Garment & Fabric
Source, select, negotiate and trade knitwear range – maximising opportunities whilst minimising risk within this long lead-time department (5 months)
Sourcing of Garments, grey/ dyed fabrics, grey & dyed yarns. Have a rich understanding of the challenges that faced when working with one of the fastest growing economies in recent years
Work closely with Buying and Merchandising team to create and implement buying strategy
Merchandising, fabric coordinating & follow up. Manage 4 assistants
Good Contacts with fabric suppliers, yarn spinners in Bangladesh, India, China.
Cross function relationships including merchandising, design, press/marketing and in-store managers.
PRODUCTION AND PLANNING
Knit/ Woven Garment & Fabric
Garment line planning as per garment style, no of operations & capacity.
Creating & scheduling calendar of make to orders.
Scheduling of dye plan in process house.
Department planning, execution, machine booking & scheduling in knitting.
To make & maintain time & action calendar of orders & discuss with all department heads.
Time to time communicate & discuss orders with marketing & maintain timely deliveries.
Having experience on circular knitting machines like Mayer & Cie, Fukuhara, Pai Lung, Keum Yong.
Having experience on flat knitting machines like Shima Seiki, Stoll, Matsuya, Flying Tiger.
Selection of yarn count, Dia/ gg of knitting m/c as per require Finish parameters of Fabric.
To set the way of making & processing of all kind of fabrics.
Perfect Quality Parameter setting for Bulk.
Knowledge of colour theory, colour mixing.
Knowledge of Table printing, T shirt printing, screen making and exposing.
Knowledge of Embroidery with diff designs.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
Knitwear Product design & New Developments
To follow the product from inception, including fabric & trim development and proto sampling, until the style is either adopted or dropped.
To develop and maintain the product development time & action calendars in the system -roll up missed dates to marketing manager.
To maintain the fabric recap to ensure all information is updated and accurate.
To manage the Fabric & Trim library including adding production fabric and trims specs at the end of the season and the swatch library.
Become knowledgeable of global sourcing of fabrics and trims.
To develop and understanding of Development Lead-times globally and use the knowledge to challenge endorse, working to reduce when possible.
To update Developed vs. Booked Reports for both fabrics and styles.
Identifying international trends by interaction with the marketing team, development & presentation of collections and samples to the existing & new customers.
Planning and co ordination with production (yarn purchase, logistics, knitting, dye lab, dyeing, finishing) team for development of samples according to priority.
Analyses of swatches send by customers.
Proper documentation of parameters at sample stage.
Taking feedback from customers about the samples developed and immediate action plan on the same.
Understand the customer’s requirements by interaction with the marketing team & customer, & action plan to meet the needs of the customers.
Range development for presentation to the customers.
Knowledge of costing.
Technical support (from quality point of view) to production team (from grey stage to finished stage) mainly in knitting, dyeing & finishing.
Standardization of products.
New products through variation of counts, different fibres e.g. cotton, (Pima, Giza) viscose, polyester, nylon, modal, lyocell, tencel, silk, polypropylene etc.
Type of yarn e.g. ring spun (carded, combed), open end, compact, cg, cgm, slub, s/z twist. Multi Count.
Intimate blend e.g. comfortel, cvc, indocool, cool plus, HEG(viscose/nylon), Ritvang(nylon/ viscose), viloft (viscose/ polyester), knitting blend e.g. cotton polyester (sensura/ filament) dry fit, plated blend e.g. cotton lycra, modal lycra, cotton lurex.
Single knits(jersey, pique, pointelles, French terry, auto stripers, jacquards, popcorn waffle, fleece; double knits (rib, variegated, reversible, interlock, needle outs, ottomans, pointelles, auto stripers, jacquards. Woven fabrics like poplin, canvas, chambray, Dobby, Jaqd, Twills etc.
Various type of finishes like singeing, single & double mercerizing, silicon finish, Teflon finish, easy care finish, uv protection finish, anti-microbial finish, Enzyme finish, Moisture management finish, Aroma finish, Frost finish, Nano finish (perl & Care), Anti pilling finish, Different types of Indigo washes, Air Drap finish, Purista Finish, Garment & Panel wash, Brushing and Peaching on diff. Good knowledge in washing techniques like Enzyme washes, silicon washes, burn out wash techniques, cold pigment dyeing, towel wash, acid wash etc.
