SUMMARY

Dedicated IT professional with more than 20 years of hands on IT systems and network management and support with 15 years managing technical projects and staff looking for Tier II Network\Systems Engineer position.

OBJECTIVES

My goal is to obtain a position with a dynamic team of IT network and/or system engineers where I can continue to support system and network engineering functions, specifically in Microsoft systems and/or Cisco networking, IP Telephony and various firewall/security technologies. My skills would be used performing daily operations and tech support, while participating in both the planning and hands on implementation of new projects. Ideally I would be able to grow my technical knowledge and experience and work towards certification in a needed technology area. I enjoy providing customer service directly to customers, while learning from experts to improve my depth in each technical area, thereby freeing specialists to focus more on their area of expertise.

oI was a member of Cisco Security Change team responsible for carrying out ACL changes on customers’ ASA firewalls, add url/IPs to Sourcefire/Firepower SMCs/FMCs, perform upgrades on ASA and Sourcefire/Firepower nodes, monitor health and welfare of security devices and troubleshoot/resolve issues.

Diamond Resorts –

oI was responsible for managing Fortinet firewalls for approximately 100 locations with Diamond Resorts International. I provided standard support for routers and switches at these locations as well.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America

oI was responsible for managing the back end server/network infrastructure for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc, a non-profit women’s healthcare organization for approximately 19 years.

oResponsible for Active Directory/Access Management and Cyber Security.

oI had an amazing partner, the Senior Systems Engineer and together we were responsible for the hands-on creation, management and support of approximately 90 physical and virtual servers and about 80 network devices.

oWe had 4 physical locations; NYC headquarter, DC, Miami and New Orleans with approximately 400 users with over 150 of those uses travelling/telecommuting frequently. We also supported approximately 15,000 user accounts from our Planned Parenthood affiliates who required access to SharePoint and other resources.

oMy partner and I were responsible for all aspects of the backend including planning, budgeting, procurement, implementation and support. We worked alongside outside consultants where necessary and where there was appropriate funding. We also provided all levels of support to our 3-4 person helpdesk staff in any issues they could not resolve. When the decision was made to outsource IT 4 years ago, we worked with management to develop the RFP and stayed on to work with Xerox (the chosen vendor) to assist them in the transition.

Performed same steps for DC office move to new facility. The IT portion of both moves were completed according to schedule and budget with limited down time to the organization.

Upgrade SANS in NYC and DC –Designed SAN solution for each site, purchased and installed SANS, Moved VMWare servers to new SANS. Migrated all users on old file and print clusters to new virtual servers. Space was dramatically increased by ~500% and we were able to virtualize over half of our physical servers before the outsource project began.

Implemented SIP trunking with Verizon at both our NYC and DC sites. Re-Architected WAN to improve voice quality and increase data between sites. Created architecture that separates voice and data traffic. Recreated VPN’s between sites and added OSPF routing over VPNs. Created OSPF network route maps that forced data VLAN traffic over VPN and voice traffic over MPLS WAN to maximize available MPLS bandwidth for voice. Used additional cost effective PRIs to maximize inbound call traffic. Utilizing low cost/high bandwidth VPN for data enabled us to dramatically increase our voice capacity without requiring expensive upgrades to our MPLS network.
