General Surgery / Vascular Department

Peripheral Vascular Technician (PVT1) Kaiser Permanente, Panorama City, California --- 2004-2012

Duties: perform noninvasive vascular tests on upper and lower extremities using an ultrasound machine

with doppler. Data collected from tests are used to determine if patient has some form of vascular disease

(example: calcified arteries or some form of peripheral vascular disease). Assist Vascular Surgeon in minor

procedures such varicose vein stripping, portacatheter removals or any another procedures that may occur

during patient visit. Book appointments, answer phones, emails, follow-up M.D. orders, call patient in for

appointment and check patient out and provide after visit care summary from the day’s visit as well as

update records on computer system and file paper in chart.

Clinic Assistant

Kaiser Permanente, Panorama City, California --- 2004-2012

Duties: assist surgeons with minor procedures such as biopsy anywhere in body from head to toe as well as

prepare and assist surgeons with removal of any lumps or bumps as well as sigmoidoscopy, catheter

removals, any post-surgical care removal of staples, stitches or bandages. Provide after-care and

instructions from surgical procedures such as various hernia repairs, breast cancer, appendectomies,

cholecystectomy, laparoscopic procedures, gallbladder surgery, thyroidectomy, etc. Also prepare patients

for pre-operative procedures for surgery get blood work orders, x-rays, EKG, or blood typing. As well as

prepare work notes or paperwork for time off. Book appointments, follow-up visits as well as answer

phones, email and call patients in for appointments, stock exam rooms and assist surgeons with routine

patient visits and finally check patient out and provide them with after-visits summaries from the day’s visit.

showing patients how to monitor their blood sugar using various machines. Assist patients to care for

referred to specialist or on call doctor.

Since graduating from nursing school I have worked in many specialized areas in health care. I have

acquired exceptional skills from many areas in nursing such as pediatrics, urgent care, family practice and

technologist in the vascular department. I have performed upper and lower ultrasound testing for patients
