Since 1993, have developed a statewide Extension program on solid waste management.

Implemented

an educational and technical assistance program to increase awareness

and

understanding of solid waste management issues. Created educational

materials

and provided training for extension educators and community leaders.

Conducted

waste assessments and evaluated potential waste reduction program

enhancements.

Created an international vermicomposting resource center with web

pages,

written and audiovisual materials, research, and training.

Developed

a Compost Training Facility that features an extensive variety of

on-site

composting and vermicomposting systems, demonstrations of the

beneficial

reuse of compost, and hands-on training. Provide the only annual training on mid-to-large scale vermicomposting in North America. Have provided assistance to people in 83 countries.
