Summary: Mr. Merlino is experienced in all areas of information technology. In
his most recent project, for Salomon Smith Barney and Smith Barney Trust, his
role was as a Project Manager. His responsibilities included the management of
a team to integrate their Trust System into a newly converted environment. This
also included the management of a Web team to create an Intranet bringing Web
and DB2 technologies together. Then, building an Internet site for Trust Plan
Administrators to execute Trades, Disbursement and Cash transactions.
In a previous contract, as a project manager for GMAC Commercial Mortgage, his
responsibilities included the management of Web development teams to create a
customer site for borrowers and International servicing sites for portfolio
managers and investors. He also conducted a business and benefit analysis of
commercializing the International sites for sale to other institutional lending
agencies. This involved organization building, investigating ASPs and Hosting
services to support the infrastructure outsource maintenance companies to
support Web applications, Patent and Copyrights protection and pricing models.
He has extensive experience in project management, analysis, programming,
business process design and re-engineering using legacy, data warehouse, client
server and N-Tier technologies. In the past several years he has completed
projects for GMAC, FMC, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Scott Paper.
He is a proven leader who has managed many projects, held positions as
technology and programming manager, as well as Director in the commercial
software market place. He also volunteers his time as Web Master for the

- PresentProject Manager, to Salomon Smith Barney (NY) and Smith Barney Corporate Trust
(DE), on an integration project to connect 12 SSB mainframe systems to a new
outsource vendor (SEI), from Mellon, running their Trust 3000/ODR accounting
system. The responsibilities included writing a Statement of Work scope
document, hiring a development team, project planning with MS Project, managing
the development team of seven people and approving all design and coding. Also
coordinated the tasks of the delivery team of about twenty-five people.
The technologies used were SQL 7, Java, JSP, COBOL and DB2. A Web was built to
allow internal users access to their DB2 tables and another Web for Trust Plan
Administrators to enter transactions over the Internet to manage their Trust
accounts.
January 2000
August 2000Project Manager, to GMAC Commercial Mortgage, in the development of
International Web applications. One project involved doing a business
justification and income analysis for starting a commercial business to sell
International Servicing Web sites to other lending institutions. The
responsibilities included recommending a support organization, writing RFPs
and RFIs to obtain proposals from ASPs, Hosting
Co-Locs and outsource maintenance vendors. Developing income analysis
business models based upon the proposal responses to be presented to EVPs.
Also, provided advice on software protection using Patent and Copyright
protection with General Motors corporate legal staff.
Another Web management project was to re-design the borrower (customer) Web
site. This site is for US and International borrowers, to obtain loan balances
and make loan payments. This involved investigating and managing the graphic
designers and the VB/COM object N-Tier developers.
August 1996
December 1999Technical lead, to FMC, on a Y2K transportation system replacement with an
Internet business partner, using business to business technologies
communicating over a secured Internet connection using HTML/XML.
His responsibilities included Internet software system evaluation, integration
of legacy to Internet systems and business to business programming. This
provided FMCs chemical division with a solution, which merged Internet
business partners with the SAP/R3 business order and inventory processes to
better consolidate the supply chain process.
He designed and was responsible for the programming of a customer shipment
archive system-using Internet/Intranet technologies. The WEB based system
involved receiving data from an FMC business partner, using B2B
SSL/Certificates, and building a WEB with an MS SQL database. User access was
via MS IE 5.0 WEB Browser utilizing FrontPage, Visual InterDev/ASP and
webMethods B2B server software.
In a previous project, he managed the integration programming on a 4+ million-
dollar project linking SAP/R3 to IMS/DB2. The system was a rail transportation
system for FMCs chemical division. His project responsibilities included
management of an 8 person staff (SAP/R3 ABAP programmers and legacy IMS/DB2
programmers) and support of the legacy rail system (TRRIPS). This project
included the integration of the CASS RMS Freight Rating AS400 software to
SAP/R3.
He also designed and was responsible for the programming of the IMS/MVS TCP/IP
transaction processing middle ware to connect legacy IMS and DB2 to UNIX/SAP/R3
by using a store and forward design to keep transactions mirrored in both
environments. Responsible for TCP/IP coding using implicit and explicit socket
calls including a fail safe recovery system with a transaction audit capability.

to Rhone-Poulenc Rorer pharmaceuticals Sales, in the integration of
information into the Data Warehouse, under UNIX/ORACLE, from DB2, Access and
EXCEL data sources. Also, responsible for creating template-reporting systems
using, IRIs Analyzer analysis software and SQL-PLUS scripts, from warehouse
tables, to be used by the sales department to project market trends and analyze
product demand.

to Great Expectations video dating service utilizing Win95, Access
95 ADT and Replication, SQL 6.0, MS Project 4.0 and the MS 95 Back Office
suite. Responsible for design and development of an inventory tracking system
in Access 95 to be used by 50+ Centers around the country. The system utilized
Access Replication to synchronize databases. Also, responsible for Back Office
data integration from Access data bases to SQL Server 6.0 for Corporate
reporting using Excel 7.0 and Word 7.0 VBA and Forms design. Tested Visual
Basic 4.0 as a future mechanism for delivering new applications.

to COMPUCOLOR INC. utilizing Visual Basic 2.0 and MS Visual C++ to
integrate a Law Enforcement finger printing package written in C/OS2 to a
Windows platform. Responsibilities included visiting the vendor in California
and learning their OS2 system then returning to the client with a report and
estimate on the work involved. The integration included converting the OS2 code
to Windows using DLLs and writing a Visual Basic test system to validate the
integration.
