Professional
Experience
My most recent employment was as an electrical engineer with Austin
Brockenbrough & Associates in the Richmond, Va. area, where I
completed my assigned project for a U.S. Government facility. Prior to
this I have been employed with Day and Zimmerman engineering, ITAC
Engineers, Alliance Engineering and other firms working on various
projects in Virginia and N.C.
I was employed for Philip Morris U.S.A. for 27 years in several
engineering positions, my last job was as a Senior Electrical
Engineer, where I was involved in many large industrial projects up to
$550,000,000
Million dollars. Earlier in my career I was a Senior Electrical
Designer and prior to that I was an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor
overseeing numerous Journeyman Electricians and Instrument Technicians
at Philip Morris and worked in the electrical discipline in various
capacities prior to this.
I have an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and
have completed many individual engineering and other technical
courses, military, and civilian schools that I can provide you with
documentation for, and tons of technical seminars that have elevated
my technical/engineering education.
I began my electrical career in the U.S.NAVY where I received
excellent electrical training and worked on NAVY shipboard power and
generation equipment, switchboards and distribution equipment, 15000
h.p. main electric propulsion motors, ship service generators, boiler
room controls and various other controls, motor generator sets,
hydraulic controls and other types of electrical equipment and
systems to numerious
to list here.
After the NAVY I continued the march forward with both training and
work experiences, moving into electrical construction and later into
large industrial facilities in electrical maintenance positions
including supervisory positions, and later advancing into electrical
design and electrical engineering positions.
I have earned certifications and licenses from Journeyman electrician,
to master electrician, and electrical inspector certifications in all
categories. I advanced further with education, training and
experiences into engineering related roles such as electrical
designer, later senior electrical designer and higher finally reaching
employment status of senior electrical engineer with my long time
employer Philip Morris USA,
I am experienced with electrical systems and equipment for very large
facilities, whether it be the entire 3 phase 20 kv electrical
distribution system, 4160 vac motors and controls, 3 phase 480 vac
power, 277, 208, 120 volt distribution design, including the
electrical service, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers,
motor controls, HVAC ect. for the building services, or the electrical
power and control systems required for a process and or production
machinery and systems.
This includes all power calculations, conductor sizing, conduit
sizing, short circuit current and ground fault current calculations,
grounding, and all Typical electrical engineering and design functions
I am very knowledgeable in the contents and use of the National
Electrical Code, and have
received repeated training on various code editions 1965 thru the
2008 code and perform electrical designs
that conform to the NEC and other related codes.
During my career I have received extensive training in management,
human relations, diversity, safety, various PC courses, numerous
electrical engineering courses and related business Courses since the
inception of the PC including, DOS, WINDOWS, EXCEL, WORD, POWER POINT,
and various other PC programs dealing with business and engineering. I
have had numerous CAD training courses including Micro-Station V8 and
a number of Auto-cad versions, training on various manufacturers of
PLC'S,
VF drives, ISA training and much more.
I personally can and have performed electrical power and control system
calculations, designs, inspections and also created the required drawings
and documents, write specifications, create scope of work, bid
preparations, design and oversee the installation, perform the checkout and
start-up.
I am a certified Master Electrician, Master Electrical Inspector certified
by the ( IAEI ), International Association of Electrical Inspectors, also
certified by the Board of Governors of the National Certification Program
for Construction Code Inspectors ( NCP-CCI ) as well as having received
training on various safety programs, procedures and codes including, OSHA,
NEC, IBC, etc.
This sums up in a brief manner some of my experience and capabilities. As I
have noted here I have
An associates degree, but I also have sought and obtained much additional
technical training and experiences, and have enhanced my ability to a
senior engineer level, and I can and will work on projects as either my
preferred role as a senior electrical engineer, senior electrical designer
and or
electrical maintenance supervisor or manager.
I am a very personable, active individual and can be available for an
assignment within 2 weeks.
Last of all I am a man of integrity and reliability, and if you have a
small or large project, and a need for someone full time or part time for
at least 6 months duration, or as long as 5 years, I am available to
discuss this with you.
Respectfully
Carlton (Jerry) Dunford
