. Manage thirty employees and a $5 million dollar budget for all
facilities maintenance, construction, remodeling, and service
activities at this 600,000 Sq. Ft. world headquarters office
building and manufacturing facility. Also responsible for the
acquisition, operation, and preventive and predictive
maintenance of key production equipment. Ridge Tool Co. is the
world's largest manufacturer of pipe joining and construction
tools employing 1,500 employees. Responsibilities included the
headquarters buildings, the main manufacturing plant and the
other US and European operations.
. Responsible for all EPA, environmental compliance, risk
management, and energy programs at five US operations, three
European operations and one China operation.
Key Contributions
. Initiated predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause
analysis, and lean manufacturing concepts within the
maintenance department to improve departmental efficiency and
improve responsiveness. As a result of these initiatives
machinery and equipment uptime increased 15% overall.
. Spearheaded an energy conservation program to identify and
implement energy improvement which reduced annual energy
costs by more than $100,000. This included the installation
of a computerized building management system for the
facility.
. Modified manufacturing processes which resulted in the
reduction of hazardous waste by more than 90%. This
reduction changed the Elyria facility status from a large
quantity generator to a small quantity generator based on
EPA's waste generation standards and classification.
. Employed facilities risk management strategies to improve
insurance risk rating from a B- to an A+. This improved
rating provided a $210,000 annual savings in insurance
premiums.
. Working with designers and contractors, managed the
refurbishment of nearly 100,000 Sq. Ft. of office space.
This multi-year project required over $1 million in capital
spending.

. Manage all plant engineering supervisors, engineers, foremen,
millwrights and electricians in a 250,000 sq. ft. unionized
manufacturing plant. Abex, a modern foundry and casting
facility, produced exotic high alloy castings that are used in
the petrochemical and metal heat treating industries.
. Develop budgets, select, install, modify and modernize all plant
and facilities equipment.
. Establish and oversee all environmental and safety programs to
maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA and local regulations.

. Lead project engineering and facilities support services
Key Contributions
. Managed a $1.75 million capital improvement project to
install new electric melt furnaces and controls systems to
reduce melt cycle time by nearly 10% and reduce furnace
energy consumption by 15% providing a three year return on
investment.
. Established a union/management safety committee to improve
and oversee all safety compliance programs. As a result of
these improvements loss time accidents were reduced by more
than 20% and the company was awarded by an achievement award
for this improvement by the Lorain County Safety Council.
. Assigned as project manager for the installation and start up
of a centrifugal metal casting facility located in Chengdu,
China. This one year project required me to spend a month at
the Chengdu manufacturing facility to oversee the
installation.
