Assisted Engineering in the design of a Telecommunications product that
incorporated the latest SMT technology.
Printed Circuit Board Design of three PCBs', mostly SMT, which included
sensitive Analog /high speed Digital circuitry co-existing on the same PCB.
Created land patterns based on IPC standards.
Assisted in the design of the system interconnect assembly of multiple
Pcb's in a stacked and lateral enclosure placement to insure fit between
I/O connectors and enclosure.
Modeled complete assembly in Pro-E to ensure form, fit and function. Worked

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
MECHANICAL DESIGN - Design sheet metal enclosures, cable harness, and sub-
assemblies. Solid modeling of Systems to insure form, fit, and function.
Investigated packaging strategies, which included VME, Future + Buss, and
custom designs to meet Marketing requirements.
Drafted drawings to be used in the fabrication, and final assembly of the
finished Product.
Conducted thermal analysis to determine component placement and linear
airflow requirements for the operating temperature specifications.
Simulated Systems and PCB's using BetaSoft board. Conducted Thermal Chamber
qualification tests.
PCB DESIGN - Responsibilities included application of: IPC standards;
design
rules- using electronic tools- to specific types of circuits; operational
and safety
spacing based on circuit characteristics; relating schematic to layout,
and back-annotation; cross-checking to completed designs; manufacturability
considerations including both fabrication and assembly for thru-hole, SMT,
and hybrid technologies; EMC-mitigation/Signal Intergrity techniques; parts
generation,
Library management; relative placement of electronic power components;
schematic capture; and, mechanical modeling. Designed single to twelve-
layer Printed Circuit Boards, mixed, high pin count, Analog / Digital
PCB's, using Pads PowerPCB, OrCAD, and CCT Specctra. Simulated trace
parameters using UniCad, and Hyperlynx.
Researched components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies to insure they met
design and regulatory requirements.
Qualified UL listed components to insure manufacturing compliance, acted as
a liaison between Engineering and Under Writers Laboratory.
EMC - Assisted Engineering in selection, and placement of key components to
insure product met or exceeded requirements for the CE Mark, FCC Part 15,
FCC Part 68, and UL EN60950. Acted as a liaison between Engineering and
test labs, setup and monitored Unit Under Test (UUT) at lab test site wrote
Emissions and Immunity Test Plans. Performed modifications to UUT at lab
site to gain compliance.

Four year's experience in the simulation of signal integrity, crosstalk,
emissions, immunity, based upon the technology of components selected. The
data collected was then used to develop constrain routing, develop the
board stack up (controlled impedance), set critical net topologies (clock
circuits), experiment with device technologies (driver/receiver), and
specify terminations (rise time, transmission line) before board layout.
Five years' experience in the design of PCBs, incorporating the design rule
control of Auto Router to insure Emissions, Immunity and signal Integrity

I designed and fabricated a CNC Gantry Router for my home workshop, which
included Motor Driver circuits, Power Supplies, Wiring interconnect, Front
Panel I/O interface, and documentation of over all System. The Gantry CNC
Router has a cutting area of 42" x 42" x 4".
