EXPERIENCE:
2010-Present University of Michigan- Ann Arbor Ann Arbor, MI, USA
Postdoctoral Researcher
. Investigating the feasibility of microprobe or fiber optic
probe for Raman signal collection, which will provide
opportunity for in-line manufacturing process control
variables.
. Researching on cultured human keratinocytes HK as possible
replacement for damaged oral tissues.
. Designing experimental protocols for managing the problems
that arise out of non-confocal optics in a turbid system,
sampling protocols needed to detect local stress in the
cultured HK as well as protocols for removal of interfering
Raman bands arising from the culture petri-dishes.
. Utilizing Raman spectroscopy to evaluate the quality of
cultured HK.
2003-2010 PhD Physical Chemistry (Molecular Spectroscopy)
University of Missouri
Kansas City, MO, USA
. Determined the structural parameters of cyclobutylamine,
despite the absence of symmetry in the molecules. Utilized a
combination of microwave data and theoretical ab initio method
by using least squares technique. This study establishes a new
method for structural determination of four member ring
molecules lacking any symmetry.
. Established the conformational stability of cyclobutanol in
xenon solutions, while avoiding the complications due to
dimerization. Utilized the special technique of performing the
temperature dependent infrared spectra in liquefied xenon
solutions. The outcome of the study provided the relative
energy difference between the conformers.
. Accomplished a comprehensive vibrational, structural and
conformational stability analysis of fluorinated alcohols
which are substitutes for CFCs (Freons). The result obtained
in this study provides a platform for future investigations of
fluorinated alcohols and amines.
. Researched the effect of cross-linking agents on the dentin
bonding interface as hybrid layers using model adhesive
systems.
. Comprehensively investigated the evidence of twist conformer
for a five-membered ring molecule utilizing experimental and
theoretical techniques. Established a new model for predicting
the conformational stability of five member cyclic molecules,
and provided experimental evidence of pseudorotation and twist
conformation.
2000-2002 M.Sc. Polymer Science and Functional Ceramics
Jamia Millia Islamia
New Delhi, INDIA
. Synthesized a biodegradable polymer core to be used for
sustained release of drugs and active substances.
. Created synthetic roadmap as per the available scientific
literature for Grafting (MMA) onto Gum Acacia which was
utilized as the matrix for the drug.
2002-2003 Johnson Matthey India Gurgoan, INDIA
Quality Control Chemist
. Delivered high quality and timely analyses of chemical assays
to assist in catalytic converter manufacturing.
. Ensured fulfillment of production requirements and
constraints by working with engineers, operators' supervisors
and quality assurance.
. Collaborated with cross-functional team to achieve production
and quality control goals in a manufacturing facility.
. Conducted quality control tests including XRD, ICP and van't
isotherm for assessing catalytic converter efficiency.
. Experienced in operating Malvern Particle Size Analyzer,
Philips X-Ray Spectrometer, and Perkin Elmer ICP which was
utilized in order to determine the catalyst composition and
monitor the quality.
