Executive Housekeeper
Responsible for the efficient and cost effective
operation of the Housekeeping Department and
ensuring that predetermined standards of
cleanliness and service are met.
Report directly to Hotel Director and Staff Captain
and keep them informed on all matters concerning
the department. Provide input in the preparation of
the departmental budget and operate within the
parameters of the approved levels.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited
to guest staterooms, public rooms, guest and crew
stairways, guest and crew corridors, crew quarters,
room service/bell boxes, housekeeping lockers and
pantries, mess rooms, linen room, laundry and
tailor/upholstery shop.
Manage, supervise, schedule, train and evaluate
staff in excess of 100. Conduct regular
departmental meetings providing an opportunity for
open discussion and communication on all matters
relating to the department, ship and Company
activity. Offer opportunities for subordinates to
discuss grievances, suggestions and complaints and
provide solutions as necessary. Strive to maintain
a high level of morale within the department.
Responsible for motivating all subordinate
personnel in matters relating to performance and
personality to encourage the development of a
professional and courteous attitude with guests and
fellow crew. Appraise all subordinate personnel
and ensure that equal promotional opportunities are
offered as required. Monitor and review working
schedules to ensure adherence to permitted
workloads.
In cooperation with the Environmental Officer,
organize and detail the offloading of garbage in

Responsible for establishing flexible and adaptable
routines and schedules for cleaning and maintaining
all areas of responsibility. Regularly review and
evaluate these routines and schedules and make
necessary changes to ensure that standards are not
compromised. Conduct regular inspections as a
monitoring measure.
Responsible for submitting repair and maintenance
lists for all equipment, furnishings and other
items in areas of responsibility on a regular
basis. Follow up with the appropriate departments
on all such items to ensure their completion.
Responsible for recommending new methods, equipment
and materials that can improve the efficiency and
standards within the department.
Liaise with the Group Services Coordinator to
ensure that proper set ups are provided and
requests are met for all corporate and incentive
group clients' activities and special functions.
In cooperation with the Front Office Manager,
responsible for re-housing guests when requests are
made or when problems occur.
Meet with guests and provide problem resolution in
regards to staterooms, laundry and all other areas
of responsibility.
Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of
the Room Service pantries and bell boxes.
Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of
the Linen room, tailor and upholstery shops.
Responsible that all inventories for linen, cabin
amenities and cleaning supplies are maintained in
accordance with Company standards and regulations.
Ensure that requisitions for all aforementioned
items are submitted for approval. Monitors
deliveries and controls issuance of all required
items in accordance with budgeted levels.
Organize and supervise loading and distribution of
guest luggage on embarkation days as well as the
offloading of luggage for mid-cruise sign offs and
on debarkation.
