I handled complex casualty claims involving commercial coach and school
buses along with general liability losses. The book of business consisted
of losses across the country. I also handled a public entity program in the
state of New Jersey that involved both general liability and professional
liability. The insured's consisted of Municipalities, Police Departments
and Boards of Education. Duties included setting and monitoring reserves,
resolving coverage issues, hiring independent adjusters for field
investigations, hiring defense counsel for litigated files and finally
evaluating all cases for settlement and/or denial. I was also responsible
for attending mediation and settlement conferences on major cases across
the country with favorable results. Twice a year I would set up settlement
days at defense counsels offices which proved to be very successful. I
would settle between 6 and 12 cases in one day.

Penn America was an excess/surplus lines carrier. I handled commercial
property and casualty claims to conclusion in all 50 states. The book of
business consisted of risks such as bars, night clubs, motels, daycare
centers, contractors, commercial auto, special events, fitness centers and
apartment complexes with policy limits up to five million dollars. Duties
included setting and monitoring reserves, resolving coverage issues, hiring
independent adjusters for field investigations, hiring defense counsel for
litigated cases and finally evaluating cases for settlement and/or denial.
Other duties included attending mediation and settlement conferences across
the country with favorable results. I also acted as the liaison between the
Claims Department and Underwriting Department and attended weekly meetings
with the Underwriting Department. For 5 of the 6 years I was with the
company I attended a 10 city tour across the country speaking on claims
issues at their annual seminar given by Penn America for their Managing
General Agents.

in the northeast. Involved in all aspects of major losses from
investigation to settlement and /or denial. Responsible for all special
fraud investigations and liaison with fraud authorities and law enforcement
officials. I testified before several Grand Juries and was successful in
getting two gentlemen from Springfield, MA a life sentence for staging a
truck accident in that state. I was interviewed by ABC'S 20/20 who aired an
hour story on the case along with Good Housekeeping Magazine who published
a story.
