Summary:
The Operational Risk Specialist will assist the Operational Risk Director and their leadership team with the administration and delivery of independent operational risk oversight through (not limited to) operational risk-related policy and governance, operational pillar risk assessments, enterprise-level operational risk programs (i.e., end-to-end process documentation, change management, etc.), enterprise and Risk Management operational risk-related training, M&A activities, ERMS data quality, and presentations / reporting in relation to the department’s responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist management with developing, enhancing and executing dynamic risk assessment methodology to identify, measure, monitor and report operational risk of Huntington.
Engage and partner with first and second line of defense stakeholders of operational risk oversight programs to provide independent operational risk review and challenge to ensure risks, controls and mitigation strategies are identified and complete.
Develop, plan and execute independent reviews and testing of risks linked to levels 1 and 2 of the Operational Risk Taxonomy in addition to the mitigation and monitoring mechanisms used to keep residual risk within appetite.
Work closely with stakeholders and risk subject matter experts including first line business teams, segment risk, BSA/AML, SOX Office, Fraud Operations, Third Party Risk, Corporate Compliance, Credit Risk, Market/Liquidity/Strategic Risk, Legal and Internal Audit to identify, escalate and resolve interrelated risks.
Maintain and administer Operational Risk-related training program functions and supporting special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or an additional 3 years in a first-line or second-line risk management position at a financial institution
1+ year risk management, compliance or audit experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of operational risk frameworks and taxonomies including the Basel III operational loss framework.
Ability to understand associated technology, analyze data and industry trends.
Communication and presentation skills and proficiency with MS office tools (PowerPoint, Excel).
Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools (Tableau or similar).
