Performs other duties in alignment with the COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision to Move Every Life Forward.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic issues associated with the Authority's fare collection equipment, installing and removal of equipment and the repair of vehicle wiring and connections to the equipment; Using test equipment including schematics, multimeters and computer diagnostic programs; Overhauling major and minor electrical, electronic and mechanical components; Performing soldering, heating and acetylene cutting with Authority supplied equipment on the Authority's vehicles and equipment in order to perform the duties of this line of progression; Making up cables and harnesses and installing same and other wiring on the Authority's vehicles and equipment; Removing and installing parts and/or assemblies as required to gain access to faulty components in order to perform the duties of the line of progression; Removing and installing all Fare signage and decals for the fare collection requirements; Proper use of the Authority's equipment, materials and supplies and notifying management of any defects; Running errands as required, such as transporting parts, vehicles and personnel needed to complete assigned task(s) as related to line of progression; and Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Associates or Vocational training in electronic or mechanic fields; Must have knowledge of AC/DC electricity and be able to work from wiring diagrams and drawings, must be able to use multimeter and other test equipment as required; Must be able to pass a pre-employment Fare Collection Repair examination; Must be able to read and follow written instructions, follow oral instructions, change work priorities as directed, work in a fast-paced environment, work independently, and complete work assignments in a timely manner; Must obtain a Temporary Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements prior to your start date.
Must obtain the Regular Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement within your first 6 months of employment.
