GEOTECHNICAL DRILLER
Job Description:
• Operate and maintain drilling rigs and equipment for geotechnical and environmental investigation
• Conduct soil, rock, and groundwater sampling following industry standards
• Install monitoring wells and instrumentation as required for site investigations
• Read and interpret drilling plans, logs, and specifications
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines
• Record drilling conditions, soil classifications, and groundwater levels
• Assist engineers and geologists in analyzing subsurface conditions
• Troubleshoot and repair drilling equipment when needed
• Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
• Work in various weather and terrain conditions, often in remote locations
Requirements & Qualifications:
• MUST have clean MVR with under 6 points, valid driver’s license
• Must pass a drug screen and DOT physical
• Must have high school diploma/GED
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs on a routine basis/handle physical demands
• Must be able to travel and work weekends when necessary and work necessary overtime
• Experience in drilling operations (geotechnical, environmental, or water well drilling preferred)
• Ability to operate different types of drilling rigs, including auger, rotary, and sonic rigs
• Knowledge of soil and rock classifications and drilling techniques
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform equipment maintenance
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) may be required for some positions
• OSHA, MSHA, or other safety certifications are a plus
• Willingness to travel and work long or irregular hours
Work Environment:
• Outdoor job sites, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
• Remote locations, construction zones, or environmentally sensitive areas.
• Potential exposure to hazardous materials (proper PPE and safety protocols required)
