Job Description

The Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for our Game Department to teach Tabletop Prototype and Play. This hands-on studio course guides students through the complete process of physical game development from initial concept to finished prototype. Students will work individually and in small teams to develop, refine, and present original tabletop games

Key Course Components:

Conceptualization and pitching of original game ideas

Physical prototyping techniques and materials

Iterative design based on playtesting feedback

Documentation of the development process

Marketing and distribution strategies for tabletop games

Professional presentation and demonstration techniques

The ideal candidate will have practical experience in tabletop game design and production, strong mentoring skills, and industry knowledge of tabletop game publishing and distribution. Experience with crowdfunding platforms, manufacturing processes, and marketing strategies for tabletop games is highly desirable. The ability to guide students through both the creative and business aspects of game development is essential

This position requires a commitment to fostering students' creative vision while providing practical industry knowledge and maintaining high standards for production quality. The instructor should be able to balance structured learning with studio-based mentoring and create an inclusive environment that supports diverse approaches to game design

The successful candidate will mentor students through the entire game development pipeline, providing guidance on concept development, physical prototyping, playtesting methodology, iteration, and presentation. The instructor will facilitate regular critique sessions and playtesting opportunities while covering essential industry knowledge including manufacturing considerations, marketing strategies, and distribution channels

This course is scheduled for in person sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am - 10:45am (EST). The position will begin August 2025.

Position: Adjunct Instructor, part-time

Qualifications:

A BFA/MFA in art or design with a focus on coding, game design, or technology will be considered.

Experience teaching at the college level is desired, but not required.
