Job Overview

Legacy Supply Chain is hiring an Operations Manager of International Freight Forwarding to support our International Freight Forwarding division. As the Operations Manager of International Freight Forwarding, you will be responsible for the strategic and tactical management of international land, air and sea freight forwarding along with customs for all the International Freight Forwarding division. This position offers a competitive salary + bonus and benefits, including a 401(k) plan with a 5% company match, PTO, medical, vision and dental.

What to expect as an Operations Manager:

Lead and mentor the International Freight Forwarding team to drive operational performance, ensuring adherence to company standards and operational goals.

Provide guidance, two-in-the-box support, and develop team members to optimize operational efficiency.

Responsible for the budget and P&L of the international brokerage business, driving growth in volume, revenue, and gross margin by expanding Ocean/Air, Import/Export, and Customs Brokerage operations.

Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key international customers, carriers, and vendors.

Partner with internal teams (Sales, IT, Operations) to provide innovative solutions that meet customer needs and optimize logistics strategies.

Streamline and optimize operational processes, ensuring efficiency, cost reduction, and service excellence. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and performance targets for the International Freight Forwarding team.

Identify opportunities for growth in trade lanes and service offerings. Drive strategies for expanding international freight services, including pricing capacity, seasonality, and market trends. Ensure that service contracts align with overall strategic transportation and cost optimization objectives.

Foster a high-performance team atmosphere that promotes innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Ensure that all international freight forwarding activities comply with local and international regulations, including import/export laws and customs brokerage standards. Monitor changes in regulations to proactively adjust business strategies.

Review key performance indicators (KPIs) in real time, including revenue, margin, load count, and customer satisfaction. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and optimize business operations.

Oversee the negotiation of contracts with international carriers and ensure that agreements are aligned with the company's strategic objectives for cost optimization and service delivery.

Lead efforts for continuous improvement by identifying gaps in service offerings and implementing innovative solutions that drive efficiency and service excellence.

Contribute to a positive and high-energy work environment by setting the tone for the department, fostering high morale, and encouraging a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred

Minimum 6 years Freight Forwarding/NVOCC experience

Minimum of 4 years Team Management experience

Minimum 4 years Export Compliance experience

Minimum of 4 years P&L Management & Budgeting experience

Minimum of 4 years Multimodal (Ocean Import, Local Trucking, Drayage) experience

Ability to establish standard operating procedures & metrics

Proven history of business plan preparation and implementation

Direct customer interaction in customer service and/or sales

Understanding of service contracts

Strong negotiation and communication skills

Computer systems: Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Transportation Management Systems

Prior experience and knowledge of Customs brokerage, Warehousing, and distribution

Continuous improvement, Servant leadership and Entrepreneurial mindset

Organized and detail-oriented with excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to motivate people through collaborative skills
