The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a motivated Power Engineering Student to join our team as a Floor Operator.
The Role:
The Summer Student - Floor Operator will report to the Shift Engineer. The focus will be maintaining safe and efficient operation of the plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring the safety of the plant and personnel.
Responsible for the operation of the plant in the field
Keep the shift engineer informed, provide an accurate review of the plant status, and identify issues as they occur.
Perform plant tours
Help identify issues and opportunities for improvement on a shift-to-shift basis
Constructively participating to help balance the priorities for the shift.
Follow-up and understand the issues and status throughout the shift.
Complete rounds regularly utilizing the established check sheets as an inspection guide
Complete water tests each shift and enter the results into the online data base.
Perform lockouts on required equipment.
Progress towards third class ticket is required
Support the business areas and systems.
Reliability: Focus on understanding issues and opportunities that allow us to maximize operational output for the long term.
Safety: Ensure excellent housekeeping and adherence to safety policies.
Administration: Ensure log entries are detailed and professional and time sheets are complete and signed
The Candidate:
4TH or 3RD Class Power Engineer
Mechanically inclined
Solid fuel firing experiencing an asset
Maintenance experience is an asset
Strong organizational skills;
Strong communications skills, both oral and written;
Previous experience in heavy equipment operations is an asset
