This role supports the development of the plant site layout and civil/structural design for buildings and structures of the Xe-100 SMR plant. NO Nuclear experience is required. This position will focus closely on Project Managment, during the overall design of multiple civil/structural buildings and structures across the plant site. The position will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplined team of other engineers, suppliers, and project stakeholders to coordinate the successful design of the structural buildings and structures. This work is ultimately aligned to support key objectives in developing a design that has advantages in sustainability, economics, reliability, and safety relative to current day power generation units. This role interfaces with various teams, including project controls, engineering, licensing, supply chain, quality, safety, manufacturing, testing, operations, and/or construction functions.

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.
At least 3 (three) years of experience in an engineering role required.
Experience with assessing civil/structural engineering phenomena to inform design of buildings and structures.
Analytical experience with civil/structural hazard assessment (e.g. by fragility analysis, hand calculations, and/or civil structural design and analysis software programs.)
Some experience supporting project management duties is preferred.
Experience directing or interfacing with subcontractors is preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
This position will execute the core tasks and responsibilities listed below with minimal supervision:
Provide ownership, responsibility, and accountability over technical scope involving the coordination of multiple individual contributors working in a specific area.
Provide oversight to subcontractors and vendors for technical design and analysis assignments.
Support the advancement of the plant site layout and complete design of several Xe-100 civil/structural buildings and structures through final design and construction.
Perform, manage, and direct the engineering, development, and construction of various civil/structural buildings and structures for the project; this includes planning, monitoring, and controlling of the complete engineering effort through all the development life cycles.
Apply civil engineering codes and standards to inform the development and implementation of risk-informed and performance-based structural design criteria.
Use knowledge and experience of civil/structural engineering analysis principles to inform risk-informed performance-based methods for hazard assessment, including seismic and other hazard fragilities, as informed by probabilistic risk assessment and failure modes effects analysis conducted by other teams.
Work with construction teams to evaluate sequencing, cost estimations, material quantity estimates, schedule development, and modularization concepts for development of the design towards the implementation of the Xe-100 plant.
Define, manage, and verify the requirements for civil/structural buildings and structures and develop new concepts that can be implemented in a cost-effective and schedule considerate manner and meet the needs of the future customers/users. Ensure that the requirements of later lifecycle stages are addressed at the correct point in the system design (e.g., constructability, testability, reliability, maintainability, safety, flexibility, interoperability, disposal, etc.).
Ensure the civil/structural buildings and structures have the capability to perform required functions and satisfy all stated requirements throughout the plant development lifecycle.
Identify, define, and manage interfaces between diverse engineering and other teams to advance the multi-discipline design for the Xe-100.
Ensure work complies with all applicable local, national, and international codes, regulations, and quality standards.
Communicate inputs and performance commitments to Project Leads and/or Project Managers and the matrixed departments that support system project execution (Finance, Subcontracts/Procurement, Engineering, Licensing, Quality/Safety, etc.). This includes activity/delivery schedules, cost estimates, subcontracting requirements, quality requirements, regulatory requirements, deliverable definition, etc.
Execute system or component performance measures – risk management, scheduling/program planning, document management, cost adherence/variance analysis/earned value, deliverables status, technical performance measures/specification adherence, other.
Actively supports the safety culture and ensure integration of quality in all relevant processes by complying with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program.
Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
