Assistant Controller
About the Role:
Matic is looking for a dynamic Assistant Controller to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role will work closely with the Head of Finance & Accounting to oversee key financial processes, drive accuracy in financial reporting, and enhance internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience in financial operations, and a passion for optimizing financial systems. Responsibilities:
Perform monthly reconciliations of all GL accounts, including revenue, developed software, prepaids, and accruals, ensuring balances are accurate and any variances are investigated and resolved
Assist in the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
Compile partner commission reporting statements in accordance with the Company’s partnership agreements
Support the Head of Finance & Accounting in analyzing financial data, preparing variance analysis, and providing actionable insights to management
Lead initiatives to streamline and automate accounting processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability while maintaining strong internal controls
Work closely with other departments such as sales, customer success, and product to ensure financial processes align with business operations
Aid with the assessment, scoping, and implementation of various financial systems
Contribute to the preparation of all financial records and supporting documentation required for the external audit process
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
4+ years of experience in accounting (public accounting or high-growth startup experience preferred)
CPA is a plus
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, and process automation (VBA knowledge a plus)
Experience with financial reporting, revenue recognition, and reconciliations in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to improve financial processes and drive efficiencies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Prior experience in financial services, technology, or insurance is highly desirable
