Administrative Secretary (U) (Vacancy)

Definition

This position will provide administrative support to the Health Commissioner’s Office, specifically to the Assistant Health Commissioners.

A person who has been selected by an appointing authority in accordance with the Columbus City Charter, Section 148(1) is said to have received an unclassified appointment. Those individuals receiving unclassified appointments serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority and may be terminated from employment at any time. Under general supervision, is responsible for performing general secretarial duties for member(s) of the unclassified service; performs related duties as required.

Examples of Work

Answers telephone calls and greets visitors;

Types letters, memos, legislation, contracts, and other documents using word processing and other software applications;

Enters information into database, spreadsheet, and other software applications; runs reports of selected criteria;

Schedules meeting, hearings, or appointments; takes verbatim minutes of meetings and hearings;

Assembles, collates and copies a variety of different types of documents or information for meetings, presentations, and other uses;

Collects and/or compiles information from a variety of sources and prepares reports using software or other means;

Maintains filing system;

Attends meetings and takes necessary notes;

May monitor and order office supplies as needed.
