OUR CLIENT
Our client is a leading consulting Engineering firm known for its excellence in project delivery across North America. This firm focuses specifically on the mechanical design for building projects including institutional, residential, commercial, and civic projects and they are looking for a capable individual to work in a junior or intermediate capacity (seniors will also be considered!), from their Detroit studio. The role can be worked in a hybrid (work from home part time) capacity, however, some site and studio visits will be required.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Studio Manager, the role will have a broad focus encompassing design, technical work and project delivery. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the various engineering teams with their project work to ensure excellent service delivery for mechanical engineering services in a consulting environment and on building projects.
Key Responsibilities include:
Mechanical Design and production of technical drawings for a variety of building typologies and for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
Work with clients, project teams and stakeholders for the execution of projects, and as appropriate, support specific proposal, project management and project efforts
Assist with determining the scope and fees for proposed engineering services.
Performs engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying out components, and calculation of program and building areas
Perform site visits and evaluates site conditions, including zoning requirements and site constraints and performs site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions
Synthesizes, interprets and coordinates technical information to write engineering specifications for Project Manuals
Work with other engineering disciplines, contractors and sub-consultants in meeting deliverables The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Professional Engineer with registration in the USA or eligible for registration is preferred
4+ years of experience in Mechanical Buildings Engineering
Possess an excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards applied to design work, so as to be able to support the various teams
Knowledge of and experience with high-performance and sustainable building practices is preferred.
Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing requirements, energy codes, and other related standards
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
LEED® Accredited Professional is preferred but not essential WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
